Default 4th of July Plans?

What are you doing for America's Bday??

I'm planning on getting up this year to watch the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta. It passes by my apartment. The road is closed til 3pm. There are usually parties and music around I heard. Last year I was hungover and slept through the whole thing. I have to get up by 7am.

Later on going to a pool party with my friend at a guys place that I'm having a fun fling with . His friends are very fun too. There's going to be lots of food and he makes the best mojitos (yes he's Cuban). And watching the fireworks afterwards from the roof. I'm going to look for an american flag bikini after work. Yes I am so doing that.

Not sure yet. Going bowling tonight after work. A friend mentioned a burlesque show tomorrow night, but I'm not sure that's happening. I'm actually not feeling it this year since it's falling in the middle of the week and I have to work on Thursday.

My BFF is coming over tonight for a slumber party That typically translates to us hanging out in PJ's, watching movies, and gaming half the night.

Tomorrow we are meeting up with a good friend who is in from San Diego. We will watch fireworks and that's about it. I think my friend from SD will have his nieces and nephews with him so it will be a quick outing.

Thursday we are all meeting up again for a post 4th lunch with adult beverages. I'm looking forward to spending time with 2 of my favorite guys.

Worn out iPhone. Need I say more?

Our neighbors (who we don't know very well) mentioned in passing to DH that they'll be having folks over around the fire pit and I think some fireworks and that we should come, but I'm unclear if we're supposed to bring food or if there will even be food or what. I'd go over and ask, but honestly I'm not sure they'd know me if I went to the door and that would be...awkward. I'm planning on taking food anyway because if people are gathered then they'll eat so better than showing up empty handed.

I'm thinking spicy bean salsa with tortilla chips and either mini cheesecakes or cream cheese stuffed strawberries. I can't decide between the two.

Honestly wish we were just staying home.

Hope everyone has a good day no matter their plans!

We have a busy day planned. Parade in the morning, then a day at the pool (it's always empty on the 4th, so it's awesome). DH's family is coming over for dinner, and then we will go to the fireworks.

Oh goodness, Spring! That all sounds delicious! *cheesecakecough*

I'm at a loss of where to watch the show from this year. The fireworks show used to be staged at our old, and historic, court house but they can no loner do this because of a new building in the area. It was a beautiful show, and I used to know every location where it could be seen from. Not anymore, and the parking situation is now a hassle! Oh well, useless information. Lol

I hope you have a great 4th, and everyone else as well!

Happy hour tonight, and fireworks tomorrow night. Tomorrow during the day is undecided.

Fourth of July is my favorite holiday! Unfortunately, despite living in a city that proclaims itself "Military City, USA", there is not big *anything* going on. There are fireworks at some of the military installments and at SeaWorld, but no big parade or anything.

I grew up in TinyTown (not its real name), IL, and our Independence Day celebration was a big deal! There was a carnival, tons of food booths, two parades, Bessie Bingo, live music, street dances, etc., etc. It was A BLAST. And I am soooo nostalgic for it! I miss the volunteer fire department's butterfly pork chops, and the Presbyterians' homemade ice cream, and the Methodists' lemonade shakeups, and...and...and...

So while Fourth of July is my favorite holiday, it's a little bit of a letdown not going home. So I'll spend the morning reading for school (whilst lounging in the pool) and then we're going to see Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter in the afternoon (I HATE horror movies, so I'm taking a novel in case I have to go sit in the lobby of the movie house and read).

Happy Fourth of July! Let freedom ring!

My worry over what to take has been relieved! My neighbor (who I am good friends with) called to let me know she spoke with the hosting neighbor and now I know what to expect! I told her I couldn't decide between the cheesecakes or the strawberries and she yelled in the phone "YOU BETTER BRING BOTH!!!" She has good timing because I was making my grocery list when she called. It will help me use up the huge flat of strawberries Mr. Spring surprised me with yesterday from a place near us that grows them.

She said there will indeed be fireworks. Good grief I hope they don't catch anything on fire.... like my house.

Nothing special for the actual 4th. Tonight my SO and I are going to my coworker's going away party at a little hole in the wall Mexican place that has the best margaritas. Tomorrow we're going to make hamburgers on the grill and spend the day by the pool. Most of the local fireworks shows around us have been cancelled because of the drought, and the one that is on is downtown and it's going to be crazy. Thousands of people plus 90-degree heat isn't really sounding too appealing to us.

This weekend we're going down to Louisville. My SO's grandma is having a big porch party on Saturday complete with a possible fireworks show.

Neighbors, Friends and Family are all coming over in the evening...for food and fireworks. We live out of city limits so between us and the neighbors...we have enough fireworks for a good show. Everyone is bringing food to eat...so I don't have to do all the work. Woo Hoo!!

BBQ, beans, potato salad, broccoli salad, queso, texas salsa, hotdogs, veggie tray, fruit, cookies, homemade ice-cream, wine, beer, and margaritas!!! Yum!!

Otherwise, tomorrow morning/afternoon will be a quiet day hopefully.

Hanging out in the pool and cooking burgers. When it gets late, I'll probably be hoping that my neighbors don't set my house on fire with their ridiculous fireworks.

Hanging out on my brother's boat... Which is docked at a place we lovingly refer to as the redneck yacht club. It's awesome, but definitely nothing fancy! So, we'll probably be there for a good part of the day, and then take a trip up- and down-river to see the fireworks shows from different towns!
