I think they sell Kinder products in Latin America too, my roommate from Ecuador had some in our pantry as I recall.

You know, I'm starting to get the sneaking suspicion that the rest of the world enjoys better candy than we do...

Dood.

Nutella. Never would have discovered it, or tried it had I not started watching Italian cooking shows on FoodTV.

That is all.

What? BANNED?! That's why I only got these in Germany and Canada? Jeez, people, watch your kids and let the rest of us have chocolate and toys.

What kind of Country bans kinder eggs

I'd be more than willing to ship them down there for a small favor

M2LR: do you live anywhere near Oakland/SF? I could swear that I've seen Kinder Eggs at more than one gourmet-type place. I currently live in Boston, and there's a place here that sells them.

I didn't know they were banned! But this explains it (from the Wikipedia entry):

Quote:
There are some stores in the United States that sell genuine Kinder Eggs, often in conjunction with other imported British or other European sweets, although their importation is technically illegal due to the FDA ban.

I get them when I go to Switzerland for business. My nephew loves them. I have a couple of toys on my windowsill here at work! The chocolate is even pretty good. Well, the Swiss know their chocolate, that is for sure.

I have seen them in the US at an Italian deli that sells imported products.

Well, we worry a lot about kid's toys that could pose a choking hazard, and both the inside capsule and the parts of the toy could certainly choke a child.

Supervise the kids.

Supervise the kids.
Goes without saying that kids should be supervised, but it only takes a second to choke. It's hard to watch a child continuously and never take your eye off, especially with more than one kid.

Break the egg, take the toy out, give the kid the chocolate.

If the US wants them banned, fine, I just think it's a bit odd - the choking issue aside.

M2LR - I'm not sure where you are in CA, but I know of a German deli that sells them in Fremont. (gee, I wonder if the owner knows they are illegal?!) I think they are about $2.50 or 2.75 each egg. They are the german kinder eggs. LMK if you still need them, where you are, and I can still see if she has some. You can PM me.

We used to get them when we lived in Germany too. They were such fun! My son still loves them but we don't get them often. They were only $0.50 or $1.00 in Germany. Can't believe they go for so much here.

Haha... ya think? Last time I went to Poland, I ate almost nothing but candy. I had forgotten the feeling of walking into a candy store, getting a little bit of everything you like, and nibbling on it as you walk down the street. Good times!

They sell Kinder Eggs in my local grocery store. I'm not sure how accurate that "banned in the US" business is.

I ordered some off of amazon, I think I ordered 9 of them, at 1.49 each or something.

Cute toys here at my desk at work, LOL.

I can't believe I paid that money for TOYS. I didn't even eat the candy half of the time.

Yup, has like the milk chocolate on the outside, white chocolate on the inside. Oh wow, the toys are just totally random, LOL. Not even from movies or anything that I have heard of, I am googling to see if I can find any...
