IUD

I have had a Paraguard for a year. I almost had it removed in the first few months because I bled all the time with only a few days off. I don't remember how long it took to settle down - four months? No issues since then.
Loose botticelli curls and waves
No silicones/no sulfates since March 2008
Well...I'm gonna see what this next cycle does. Cause my parter now said he could feel it...it didn't hurt him but he felt like he was hitting something. I'm wondering now if it fell or something.

Back on Cones,so now my routine is,wash with Deva No-Poo every other day or so. Occasionally use 365 sulfate free, maybe use low sulfate shampoo mixed with conditioner once every two weeks are longer. I condition with Aussie Moist or HEHH. I style with a little GF TN,and finish up with tons of GN Pure Clean Smoothing Cream. No frizz...slippy, happy hair.
No symptoms besides the spotting. I was immediately worried though because I was so regular for 6 years. I was always good about checking it after my cycle, etc. nothing ever felt weird. But it had definitely dropped. Get it checked for your own piece of mind, especially if your partner can feel it.

Yeah....I had been like clockwork for years...I could plan my periods months in advance. I'm gonna have to call my Gyno.

I had a Paragard for 12 yrs then had Mirena inserted and have had it for 3 years. Love it!

Vitamin E- make sure you use the natural form, not the synthetic "alpha" tocopherol form.
Well...so far with the vitamin e...it's going well. I took vitamin e and this cycle has been much shorter only 2 seriously heavy days...and it's just about gone now...I'm hopeful. Also I have a Gyno appt this month

Ok...got blood work back...severe anemia. From the heavy periods...gotta get some vitamins. Have an appt with Gyno later this month...may need a new kind of birth control

The Paraguard IUD gave me some negative side effects even though it 'wasnt supposed to.'

My body rejects just about every kind of birth control. I've been using a diaphragm for several months now. I love it.

I'd be afraid I'd put it in wrong with the diaphragm. My last paraguard was fine....it's just this one.

During the month, your cervix moves and sometimes the strings drop lower than normal so that may be what your partner is feeling. As your cervix moves, the strings should disappear.
My awesome dr recommended the mirena to me. Sounds perfect but te insertion is enough to stop me from doing it. Experiences with this? I'm not normally a wuss but I dont like have my cervix touched. Ooks me out

I'm not gonna lie...it's not pleasant. I've never had morena but I can't imagine the paraguard insertion feels different. Not comfortable...crampy. Dr gave me a prescription for pain killers for the rest of the day...I just laid on the couch the rest of the day. But considering that I didn't have to deal with pregnancy scares.

I'm gonna ask about that Essure thing or find out side effects from tubal ligation.

I had the Paragard IUD for several years. Insertion was not bad. It was very quick. I took 800 mg of ibuprofen before the appointment, which is supposed to help. I had just a couple seconds of intense cramp-type pain, then felt a little crampy off and on that afternoon. Also, I should note that I have given birth, which is supposed to make it easier.

The Paragard can potentially cause heavier periods, which maybe it did for me, but mine have always been on the heavy/long side. I was very happy with it overall.
Right...I've never had kids so I was told it would be worse for me. The bleeding has been insane tho. Like scary heavy.

I'm sorry you're dealing with the very heavy bleeding and severe anemia. I've had a milder case of anemia (unrelated to Paragard) and have been taking iron supplements ever since it was diagnosed. I was trying to train for a half-marathon and I just had no endurance. But taking iron has made a big difference and I'm feeling good now. I hope you can work out the right course of action with your doctor.
Thanks...how long did it take the iron pills to work? All this time I didn't equate my low energy and waning sex drive with the bleeding...but both are probably coming from that. So at least I know what's wrong which is great

I felt like it helped within 1-2 weeks. I'm trying to remember....I ran a 10K race last August right before it was diagnosed. Then I ran another 10K about a month later and my time was 8 minutes faster, so the iron was definitely helping by then.

I was very relieved to find out my iron was low. That meant I wasn't just imagining the fatigue and malaise, and there was an easy treatment. I also try to eat red meat and leafy greens several times a week.
Yes...malaise...that's it...I just don't wanna do anything
