Default Wow. Stupid, lying brat (a little long)--UPDATE

Last week I was in a car accident. I was driving down the street and there was a girl parked at the curb. She pulled out right in front of me to do a u-turn and I hit her.

We pulled into a parking lot and I called the cops. I was so depressed because just the thought of having to deal with getting it fixed, etc. Meanwhile, she comes over and assess the damage of my car and says, "Wow, my car's WAY more damaged than yours." Even though I wanted to say, "Yeah, well serves you right because you caused the accident," I said nothing. Then a little while later she comes over and says, "Your little dog is so cute." I said thank you, but I couldn't be nice to her because I was too busy thinking about all the time and energy I knew this was going to exact from me.

The cops came. He didn't file a report but told us how to do it and we exchanged information.

A few days later my insurance company sent me a check for $600 but was waiting to send me my $500 deductible until they heard from the other girl.

On Monday I called my insurance company and they said they STILL hadn't heard from her, that she hadn't returned their calls, etc. I said, "Why?" They said, "Because she knows she's at fault." I said, "The worst part is, I see her car every day parked in front of a house." My adjuster said, "Not to ask you to do our dirty work, but how about putting a note on her car and telling her to call us." I did.

Today I called the insurance company to see if she called and they said she did and that she's denying liability. She told them that she was already in a turn and I swerved around her and I wasn't paying attention because I had my dog on my lap.

None of that was true!!!

I probably shouldn't be shocked but I really am. Luckily my insurance company has decided to find her at fault anyway, but I can't get over my shock and anger about it.

Why can't people just take responsibility for their actions?

I can't believe her gall!

I am so, so happy that she was found at fault anyway. I can only imagine how frustrating it would be if her lie worked in her favor. I'd want to go choke her or something (especially since you actually know where to find her).

One of my pet-peeves is the fact that so many people lie instead of admitting they were at fault. I grew up afraid to tell the truth, afraid to 'get into trouble'. Now I'm not afraid to just admit when I'm wrong, whether it's a big thing or a small thing; we're all human, and we all make mistakes, why go through so much trouble to hide it when you mess up? Just admit it and deal with it. I'm teaching my son that the right thing to do is admit when you're at fault, and be responsible for yourself and your actions, and that 'the truth will set you free'.

Ugh, I hate people like that. It happened to us back when I was in HS. We were turning left, and this guy completely ran the red and slammed into us. Obviously he wasn't paying attention because he didn't even try to stop. At the scene he was all shaken up and apologetic, but as soon as the cops showed up, he said we ran the red! Luckily the cop believed us, since he didn't think my dad would be running red lights with his wife and two daughters in the car. We just couldn't believe this man. He could have seriously injured us.

She probably has idiot white-trash parents who encouraged her to always find new ways to screw people over for her own benefit.

She'll be one of those girls who gets a job, gets pregnant and collects disability, and then interviews and gets a new job WHILE on disability.

Wow, you have a pretty vivid imagination don't you.

Sorry this happened Springcurl, but luckily your insurance company believes you.

I'm sorry, but I don't like when girls work somewhere for three months or whatever, get pregnant, and then go on maternity leave (that their employer pays for)...when they never plan on coming back to that job.

I have heard this story somewhere before.

Hmm...

It normally saves a lot of money in health care costs if a pregnant woman doesn't quit before going on maternity leave. It's just the way the dumb system works. I had two people in my group on maternity leave at the same time last year, and I knew I couldn't be sure they would return until they did or didn't show up on the appointed day. Thank heavens they both did.

Way to make some assumptions there.

Who said she was white?

Yeah, I don't know what that means. I really don't care, either.

Lying about a car accident is trashy (black trash/white trash), just like taking advantage of a small business owner. Sorry if some of you gals have actually DONE those things...I just don't agree with them.

Actually, she wasn't white.

She was, however, saying she lived in Hamilton, Mass (I don't even know where that is) but clearly she lives in Somerville, because that's where the accident was and that's where she's parked every single day.

I'll breath easier when I get the $500 check, then I'll take my car in to get it fixed and get a rental.

What does any of this have to do with the girl that caused Springcurl's wreck?

In my mind, there is a short list of things that qualify someone for "complete *******" status, and lying about a car accident is one of them. I can't comprehend doing it, and to me, if you do something like that, your ethical standards are so low...you're prone to a myriad of other trashy things. I guess hearing about something on my "short list" of trashy things sends me off on a tangent.

I usually don't read more than a few threads here, so from this particular one, I'm getting that there is a recently pregnant person who did what I described. I didn't read that thread if there was one. Sorry I don't agree with it, but I was brought up believing that those things are wrong. But, there is good news! Most people here don't share my values and beliefs and think I'm a _______. So, you shouldn't be offended by what I say.

Slinky1 was having a flight of fantasy and was picturing what kind of dodo-head pulls this kind of stunt.

I don't think that anyone is really "offended" by what you said, more of a, "Okay..." since your post is nothing but a bunch of judgemental conclusions.
