Driving barefoot
Is it illegal or not to drive barefoot? I do it cause my dad does it. It's bad to drive in heels and flip flops and I love not wearing shoes

I got ticketed for not having shoes on when I got pulled over for something stupid. He never said it was against the law, but I can understand the reasoning behind it. If you're not wearing shoes and break hard or are in an accident, you could break your foot and the shock of the impact can move up to your leg, potentially breaking the bones in your leg. Also, if you're in an accident and don't have shoes on, what are you going to do with all the glass and debris all around?
What difference flip-flops are going to do to protect you from the accident damage, I don't know, but they will protect you from the glass and debris on the ground after the accident.

This area is under construction as my hair type changed and nothing works well for me. I shampoo, I condition and pretty much have done nothing but chuck my hair in a messy bun for the past oh...year? Yeah, I'm that lazy.
No...going no-poo or CG does not work for me. It leaves me overconditioned and oily in a second no matter what I use, so that's not what's not working.

How can they ticket you for it if it's not against the law?!?!?!?! That's insane.

It may very well be against the law. I'm just saying he didn't specifically tell me was.
And why is it bad to drive in heels? I do it every day. 5" heels as a matter of fact.

The heel can get wedged under the break. And to me driving in heels and flip flops is uncomfortable

I agree that driving in flip flops and heels is uncomfortable (for me) and potentially damaging to the heels, though I've done it, and I, too, prefer to drive barefoot--have been doing so for many years...until the other day when my foot stuck to something sticky on the gas pedal. No more barefoot driving for me. I'm squicky about that kind of thing. Have you ever seen the crap that is on the ground?

I believe driving barefoot is illegal, because if you step on a rock while breaking to avoid hitting something, you might react and pull your foot away from the brake.
I always thought flip flops were illegal to drive in, because of the high risk of getting caught under a pedal..... Might just be something my parents told me so I wouldn't do it....
I still won't drive in flip flops or heels. I keep a pair of Dr. Scholls fast flats in the car specifically for that reason.

Even if it is illegal I'll probably still drive barefoot if I'm wearing flip flops or heels just because my car has some kick and with heels I might accelerate funny since I've only has it a few days (best sweet 16 present ever!)

The only time I've driven barefoot is when I was wearing flip flops. I hate driving and wearing flip flops, it's uncomfortable and I don't feel very safe.

I only keep my shoes on if I'm wearing boots or sneakers. Otherwise I drive barefoot. I feel like I get a better grip or something hahaha

It's "brake" not "break".
I drive barefoot a lot. I like being barefoot in general so driving barefoot is natural.

In some places yes, it is illegal to drive barefoot. I am fairly sure that in Canada it is. I know it's illegal to drive in flip flops in Australia, too.

It's illegal in WA to drive barefoot. I can't speak for other states.

Yea. Flip flops hurt. I usually take it off but then the pedal hurts my foot after a while so I'll put it back on, ONLY on road trips (more than 2 hours) otherwise I just wear the shoe.

I see the spelling police are out...
I drive barefoot if my shoes will ge ruined or if I'm find them uncomfortable for long periods of time. I always have shoes with me in the car though, for when I get out. I often just drive in flip flops though. I don't find them to be a hazzard.

They let me do my driving test barefoot but not wearing sandals. I guess flip flops/sandals are frowned on here but nothing in the book says a thing about it.

I know. And a coworker who describes herself as a redneck got me doing it!
I don't do it that much bc I rarely think of it but when I do, it feels like I got a quick foot massage.

If I have on easy slip off shoes, I usually take off my left shoe and bend my knee so my foot is on the seat to me.
Its kind of juvenile, but I've been doing it so long, and its comfortable.
I used to drive barefoot all the time, but I get antsy and start moving my foot around. A few times I stuck my foot up in the dash where the pedals are hooked up and burned my foot, stupid me.
