Default What is your "go to" piece of clothing?

For me, for formal functions and when I'm doing political activism work, I have a beautiful red wool short sleeved sheath dress. There's nothing else in my wardrobe that fits as well, and I honestly feel like it's something that will never go out of style. I lobbied at congress a couple years ago while wearing it with a blazer and got a lot of compliments on it, so I'm pretty sure it's a keeper. =)

Not ten minutes ago I said of my summer at home go-to, "Damn, I wish I had bought more of these in different colors."

It's a simple jersey above-the-knee, empire-waist brown tank dress I got from Target for all of $20. I love it for when I just got home and want to change into "comfy, but not jammies." I wear it with one of those little shelf camis, which while not exactly providing tons of support for TMR, is just fine for at home.

I even named it Ol' Brownie.

Unfortunately I only have a winter go to and it's dressy as well. B got me a black dress, long sleeved turtleneck dress. It think it was a J Jill dress (which surprises me). I wear it with a belt and I can wear with necklaces or scarves...whatever the occasion calls for. It is so comfortable and I look good in it.

I have a lot of outfits that I feel good in but they are more casual. I do have a pair of jeans (trouser style) that I love and when I want to feel confident those are my go to jeans.

I'm fairly certain my go to is this dress in black. I wear it with a comfy racer back bra. sandals or some Red Calculus toms and i'm out the door.

My go to? Depends on the occasion...

But for dressier occasions its my green satin wrap style dress from pinupgirl clothing. It makes me look and feel amazing and I can adjust the amount of cleavage I shoe, which is awesome.

I also tend to grab my dark wranglers or one of my old navy shorts on casual days. Love them.

Heh, I love the name. Although now I'm hungry.

Sounds like a pretty cute dress.

I'm in college RN so my go-to piece are black leggings and UGGs LOL. I know, not the most attractive thing, but it's college and everyone looks like crap anyway.

I actually look more put together than most people at my school LOL. Typical outfit is: black leggings, UGGs or my Birkenstocks (so fashion forward ), plain long T-shirt to cover my vag to prevent camel toe and a thin cardigan.

I'll start dressing cute when I graduate

My go to for dressy is a sweet little black dress. It fits great and I love it with silver jewelry.

For home, it's usually yoga pants or my gray skort with a 2004 tank top from old navy and flip flops. I live in Florida so shorts year round pretty much!

Good luck with the rest of school. I'd start collecting nice pieces now though. I graduated over the weekend and came to the conclusion that I do not have enough work appropriate pieces.

summer - jeans, tank top, flip flops
winter - skinny jeans, fitted sweater, tall boots
for the rare dressy event/funeral/wedding - a great black dress I bought a couple years ago and a favorite black skirt and fitted blazer I've had for years

Add lots of bold silver jewelry and a great purse and I'm good to go.

Sounds nice. Have you thought of having it remade in other colors/fabrics?

My go-to summer date outfit is this orange halther top maxi dress, gold sandals and wood earrings.

But I have a lot of clothes so I don't really a single go-to oufit. It really depends on the occasion and the season/weather.

But a go-to look for many of my business-related events is some kind of pencil skirt, some kind of belted blazer and heels.

Depends on my mood/the weather/what I'm dressing for:

For casual hot days, I have a navy tiered maxi skirt. Its very boho, casual, and I can pair it with anything. A dressier option is a long black Jersey pencil skirt.

For casual pants, I have a pair of Danskin drawstring pants that are a windbreaker type material. They're thin and flowy and super comfortable. I can get away with them in many situations BC they really don't look that casual.

For winter its my sweater poncho. I love that thing.

I don't think I have one go-to outfit because I have a TON of clothes. Yours sounds nice. I have a dress similar to that and I love it. I also have it in a toffee brown colour which I wear when a more subdued colour is necessary.

Some go-to looks that I do have:

SUMMER

bright coloured maxi dress, bangles, platform sandals, big ear-rings

halter-neck full-skirted floral knee length dress, small short-sleeved cardigan, strappy sandals, hoop ear-rings

ethnic print or ruffled cotton dresses from ethnic stores

WINTER

wrap dress, knee-high boots and tights

sweater dress, ankle boots and tights

blazer and pencil skirt in complimentary but different darker colours and colourful blouse with a bow

wool full-legged cuffed dress pants, wrap top and cardigan or blazer

I have a few dresses that I've had for at least a couple of years that I can pull out any time for a dressy occassion.

A black silk chiffon halter-tie plunging front dress with a full, floaty knee-length skirt and the same dress in dusky rose

Herve Leger bandage dresses, with or without a small velvet blazer

A red satin sheath dress with origami style pleating

An African "tribal"-style A-line short sheath in black, brown and cream

Dresses. Depending on the season and occasion they are different weights, fabrics, and lengths, but I am a dress girl for sure.

Pencil skirts for work.

Black skinny pants/jeans...the only pants I wear.

I have this dressy denim skirt I bought years ago for something like $7. It has a high, wide waistband and is slightly more shaped than a typical pencil skirt. It's one of the few pieces of clothing I've ever owned which comes in enough at the waist; although it's loose now it's the right shape that it stays in place and skims my shape.

If I want to look nice but not dressed up, it's the thing to wear with some sort of fitted top. And if there's a love interest around, well, men have been known to make a point of following me when I wear it. It's also just ridiculously comfortable which is my favorite thing about it.

This summer my go-to has been yellow belt and matching peep toe wedges. Today I'm wearing them with jeans and a black shirt to add some interest and feeling of sunshine to my outfit. I wear them with dresses and skirts often, too.
