Default Sikh shooting in Wisconson

How awful. The killer was a right wing white supremacist, former army soldier and had a record.

I was just listening to a story about this on NPR. So very sad.

Do we have shooter fatigue or do people care less for some reason? Are we getting desensitized? I was pretty surprised that there wasn't already a post on this.

Yea I heard about this over the weekend. Apparently some mosques have been attacked too. I think two of them.

Personally, it's just too much. I'm at the end of rope with humanity (hyperbole of course!) and ever since the Sikh Temple shooting hit the airwaves I've had to take a break from the news. My heart hurts for the human race and I'm starting to wonder if we'll ever grow up as a species or if it'll take a major world wide catastrophey for us to change. <<< See, I need a break.

I heard about it the other day too, but like Eche, I'm pretty disgusted with the human race right now and it's just too much to deal with. Plus the fact that a lot of areas in our country have lax guns laws doesn't help matters and makes me feel even more frustrated. It's not a popular opinion but I feel it's time for the 2nd Amendment to be repealed. I'm sorry but when it was added to the Constitution in 1790, the Founding Fathers could not have envisioned assault rifles or the Internet being invented where people can obtain them and other kinds of guns so easily. That amendment was written in a time when most of the country was rural and it was felt that the populace should have the right to be armed to defend against wild and potentially dangerous animals like bears. That is not the case now when many people either live in urban or surbuban areas with little in the way of wildlife. How many more lives have to be needlessy lost because of an amendment that has outlived its usefulness? I know nothing will be done about it in the near future because the damn NRA is one of the most powerful lobbies in the country, but how much more of this can we stand? Sorry for the rant, but I really can't deal.

I heard about this on Sunday.

This is just so sad. Just all the shooting and other attacks...sigh. Where is humanity heading?

I think some people are stupid enough to think that the victims were brown people / terrorists /foreigners and the shooter had an understandable reason in thinking they were terrorists.

What angers me most: when a shooter is white, people make excuses for them and/or portray them as an extremist and an exception to the norm. When a shooter is a person of colour, they represent their entire community so that it's justifiable to be suspicious of them and racially profile them, and people ask what's wrong with Islam or what's the problem in the Black community. Where is the profiling of angry/unbalanced white men or the questioning as to why there are so many of them?

People are worrying about whether they are safe from brown people. But are WE safe from angry white men?

I don't understand why we get all concerned with warning signs. "What signs did we miss?" Was the person insane, mentally ill?

The way I see it, if you looked sane when you purchased the murder weapon then you should be tried without the insanity option both by the court of public opinion & the justice system.

I'm cashing out

Maybe bc the person could have been treated or at least confined and the attacks prevented??

I agree that lots of people are reacting to the frustration of overload. -->The movie theatre shooting, this shooting at the Sikh Temple, the guy who shot Gabby Giffords and the other people in Arizona is back in the news, plus of course other reported shootings..

I have to add something that I think the mayor of Philadelphia recently said -- "I'm fine with your 2nd Amendment rights, but I'm also concerned about my 1st Amendment right not to get shot." (Or something pretty close to that)

Here in Seattle were on gun shooting overload. They've been so many shootings in just the past month alone. Really scary stuff.

My understanding is this guy was on some watch lists that marked him as a neo-nazi. I wouldn't be so black-and-white about whether this could have been prevented.

It was said by the organization profiling him. He said there is a tiny group of ppl who will act on their racist feelings.
