Default GPS tells woman to drive on trolley tracks

What is wrong with people???

http://www.wcvb.com/news/local/metro...d/-/index.html

A South Attleborough woman told MBTA Transit Police that her GPS caused her to take a turn onto the Green Line trolley tracks early Monday.

Natalie Thibeault told police she was driving in Brookline when her GPS told her to take a left turn onto Beacon Street. The mishap was first reported by the website Universal Hub.
"Thibeault stated she took the left when the GPS said to, and drove onto the inbound tracks," according to the police report. "Thibeault stated a male who was passing by in another vehicle, told her she was fine and to continue down the tracks and get off them at the next intersection."
Thibeault didn't make it that far down the tracks. When she attempted to put the car in reverse, Thibeault said, the tires spun but the car did not move.
MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo said there were no trains in the area at the time.

My GPS once told me to use the "offcial use only" entrance on the Pennsylvania Turnpike...the entrance the state police use...the entrance they will arrest and fine civilians for using. Did i do it? Hell no. Because i have commoon sense.

I think it was late because the trains were no longer running. He was probably drunk. Too funny.

Another one? Yeesh, unfortunately I am not surprised. This happens every few weeks in a different state.

Train tracks, sidewalks, left turn into house. Wth?

On a GPS related side note: I have firmly believed, for years, that all GPS systems should come equipped with Mr. T's voice. "I pity the fool who don't make a left!!!" I could almost understand people driving onto train tracks then... Almost.

Oh, goodness. Beacon St in Brookline has both train tracks and a regular asphalt road for motorists. Why would she think the GPS was referring to the tracks??

I think he did it on purpose. Just recognized her as a moron and was like, Yeah, no problem, you're fine. Just keep going.

I had GPS tell me to turn onto the Green line in Chicago. Or was it the Red line? I was trying to get to Target.

Needless to say, I didn't turn.

My brother, who only takes public transit, would often give me driving directions following the el.

This reminds me of the Office episode where Michael Scott drove into the lake because the GPS told him to do so. Craziness!!!

Hey, now! Some of us are rule followers, and when the authoritative voice of the Garmin tells us to turn onto a bike path, we do it.

And then, reverse and back up, hoping no one saw it. Or so I'm told.
