I just was congratulating myself on finally scheduling a huge meeting outside my office for two completely separate groups of people both from my office and an outside co. I sent everyone the invite and was receiving acceptances.

Oops - someone who is more awake than I am noticed that I scheduled it for Columbus Day when both offices will be closed and emailed me and my boss.

My sweet boss merely sent me an email asking if I could re-schedule.

CIBC: screw your horrible boss and co-workers. I thought of you immediately. We ALL make mistakes.

Curlies - post your bloopers so we can all giggle (and I'll feel a little less chagrined).

Every day is a gift
I once misheard a word at a local township meeting and wrote a story about a nuisance bar rather than barn. The story was fine, but the source of trouble was not.

I took a lot of guff for it, but it really was rather funny.

Shoot I make mistakes all the time. I'm a 'do one thing at a time, do it well' kind of person. My boss is a 'do a hundred things at once, not do anything really well' kind of person. So there are many times (like almost constantly) he interrupts me in the middle of something that actually requires some attentiveness and it screws me up. But my job isn't at all important in the scheme of things so mistakes aren't going to mess up anyone's life. It's usually something simple like posting something on our website twice or putting the wrong pic with the wrong description, typos, stupid stuff.

I recently sent thru a change order to an existing purchase order on a construction project that was supposed to increase it to a little over $900 thousand. Our new supply chain purchasing system added two zeroes to that, and I didn't catch it, making it over $93 million. Any purchase greater than $5M goes straight to the company president for approval .

Fortunately, I wasn't the only one bitten by the system, though that was by far the largest, and everyone just got a good laugh out of it!

I mispunched an order and ordered 33 cases of green tea teabags instead of one case. We just made a display of it.

I once sent out a packet of resume's touting my "pubic" relations and oral presentations.

At least he well knows he's that way and takes responsibility when things fall thru the cracks because of his Energizer bunny behavior, LOL! However, I go around feeling like I'm spread so thin and interrupted so much that I never do anything well anymore

Last year, when I was out for a few days, a particular grievance case I had was due to be closed. However, I did not discover that it had not been closed until I returned to the office a few days later. It wasn't entirely my fault though, as the supervisor was supposed to have someone else send a response letter in my absence and I wasn't able to get an answer from whoever I needed an answer from before I took off. Something like that would never have happened at my last job as they were more on point. It's serious because our health plan (actually all health plans) gets audited periodically and if a file was found to have missed acknowledgment and response deadlines, the health plan could be cited and fined. We're supposed to be audited by two agencies in the next few weeks. Whether that file is chosen for audit remains to be seen, but as it wasn't 100% my fault, I won't worry about it too much.

Well today a customer from another store called to order a pair of pants over the phone. I've gotten her billing/ shipping information then tell her we're done with the order so I get off the phone and realize I wasnt finished because I never got her credit card info in order to charge her for the purchase lol. I've never panicked so bad, so I get the number of the store from my manager hoping that I would catch the customer before she left but she was gone. Luckily she gave them her info because she needed them to order something for her also. I was so relieved and finished the transaction with no issues. I don't know where my head was today smh

I've only worked one job where's mistakes were considered a learning process. Everyone other job I've worked treats me as if I'm incompetent for the tiniest thing. I honestly think there are more idiots in power than not.

Obviously no one likes to make mistakes, but if someone is terrified to make them I guarantee they are more likely to happen.

One big mistake i made when I was brand new at a hospital and given the task of ordering hazardous material lockers. The big yellow ones used to store paint etc. I didn't relaize that the hospital buyer would make the actual order so when he gave me the PO # I put in an order myself. So we had a double delivery of them. ooops.

Another time I met a crew out at a job and they told me they were having a hard time finding the gas main. The measurements were taken off a house and they weren't adding up.

Me: I wonder if they widened the street at some point?
Crew: C, the measurements were taken off the house, think about what you said before I have to make fun of you.
Me: Ohhh....wait, maybe the moved the house??
Crew: There you go!

I worked very late to get some things off my "things to do list." We were in contract negotiations and as I decided I was more sleepy than useful at that point, an email appeared with the track changes and the client indicating they were not providing an allowance for some line items. 1 item we felt was very important. Instead of replying to our people, I clicked "reply all.". I didn't realize what I did until an email from the potential client was sent with rapid speed to me personally and everyone else(many at very high levels on their side) was copied. That was truly an oops moment. Fortunately for me, I am always diplomatic with anything written. But still, it was obviously not intended for ppl outside our group.
