Default What have you done recently that's impulsive?

I do have a problem with impulsivity. Sometimes it can be fun, though. Like in a few minutes i'm going to buy underpants. I do need them, but I could wait until I have to go to Target to buy other stuff, instead I'm getting ready to go right now.

So this week's impulsivity list:

1) Got a tattoo of Luke Skywalker's name on my arm
2) Bought a lorgnette
3) Going to buy underwear

All of these things are things I've pondered in the past, but suddenly just decided to do them.

What have you done that's impulsive recently?

Love it! I am an impulsive person by nature, so the list goes on, but at the end of August I went to England to visit some family and a girlfriend within 4 days of ticket buying.. Then while there decided to traipse off to Ireland on my own. Glad I did, I had the BEST time!!!

Great thread!

I wish I was impulsive, but I'm definitely not. Unless you consider deciding at the last minute to stop by the cupcake place when it wasn't planned.

I shall enjoy this thread and a little vicarious impulsiveness.

Asked to switch my vacation from December to next week (on Monday) to visit my grandmother. No word on whether it's approved... I hope so I haven't seen her in almost a year!

A couple weeks ago I decided that I wanted my conch pierced, so the very next day I got my conch AND tragus pierced. One on each ear. Didn't really think about how I was going to sleep...

Totally worth it though, I love them!

A lorgnette! How will you use it, and will you please post a picture?

About the biggest, most impulsive thing I've done in the past few weeks is buy a dehumidifier with a HEPA filter.

I know, I know. I'm wild! I've calmed down a lot in my dotage. It's peaceful, but not highly exciting.

Went on the a beach trip a few weeks ago for the weekend. I drove my car down there and booked a hotel a couple of days earlier. Nothing else really.

I use to be impulsive, but now i cant afford to be. I use to have so much fun and sometimes reckless. Now I have responsibilities and cant risk getting into too much trouble.

Too be young and carefree. *sigh*

Today, I took the turnpike home from school, instead of the highway.

I could've seriously used that $1.25 for something else. But... The highway is annoying, because part of it includes like a zillion lights, and a speed limit of 45. I just couldn't even deal with that today.

I know, I know, I got a little crazy!

My kitchen is difficult to work in and I thought a good cleaning might help. The impulsive part: taking every.single.thing. out of the cabinets and out of the kitchen. Three days and many garbage bags later I am still trying to get things back together.

I'll be 30 soon. GAH!!

I admit some of the stuff I did was just stoopid!!!! I do none of that stuff now. But others were fun, but could get me in trouble. I have gotten in trouble but because I was minor they let it slide.

I have gotten pierces on a whim. I have gone to museum and got on the old funiture (got kicked out and banned, but I can go back now). I have jumped in public fountains and once was chased by a cop.

before I would do things without thinking. Now I want to do things so bad, but I have a nagging voice in my head that goes, "What if something happens? What if you hurt yourself and cant work? what if you get arrested and get fired adn cant pay the bills? how will your family survive? What if...?" So by the time the voices shut up the impulse has passed. I am sure I have missed out on some fun times.

Having said all of the above, actually talked myself OUT of being impulsive... too much. I was at Target for underpants and ended up in line with a pair of jeans (that didn't even fit all that well, too gappy at the waist) a belt for the jeans, a shirt, and a bra. As I"m standing in line I said to myself, "No. You don't need these jeans, and you don't need this belt. Put it back." (I do need the bra, though)

So I did. As an adult with ADD, being able to talk myself out of that impulsivity was pretty important to me.

Wear it around my neck and use it to read ish. I just can't see close up any more and I wear contacts and the idea of bifocal contacts freaks me out.

I'm not impulsive when it comes to purchases, for the most part.
Except at the farmers' market. I get pretty impulsive then.
I'm impulsive in responding to emotional situations. I know how I should respond, but I pick impulse time and time again.

Mine, too. Stopping for cupcakes is ALWAYS the right thing to do.
