Emphatically no. He would not have had time for a wife nor would he have wanted to make a spouse have to go through all that and watch him die.

I would say yes. He lived in a time when there was not really the option to remain unmarried.

"The DaVinci Code" argues that he was married but that early Christians decided not to acknowledge it because they wanted him to be less mortal and more ethereal. Without being more versed in the mores and customs of that time period, I can't form an opinion on whether he was or not. Interesting, though.

As I am currently in a state of being highly annoyed with the bible and all it's additions, subtractions and "changes", I would have to guess yes, he was married

I wouldn't be surprised if he was. Plenty of other prophets were. They all had a lot of responsibility & various burdens. I don't see how this discovery changes anything about the religion of christianity or any other monotheistic faith for that matter.

I'm not sure. But I don't find the article entirely convincing.

Not true! Paul acknowledged that there were single people in the cities where they travelled and told them remaining single could be a good thing.

That was the first thing I thought of, as well

He may have been,.... it might also have been talking about his "bride." The bride of Christ has always been known in scripture - the Church.

Then again what difference does it make?

...although Paul was converted 30-some years after Jesus died. So maybe times had changed some by then. Think of how much times have changed since 1982.

I don't think you can put 21st century marriage ideals on Jesus in his time.

I was going to say that, if it's true, the fact of Jesus having a wife is not earth shattering. But maybe it is. Maybe it would actually change how we view much of what is said in the New Testament. Oh good, more arguing to come. Sigh.

What did Jesus do between birth and becoming the Jesus we've all heard of? Did he do anything cool as a child or teenager?

I think that if it was true and it was excluded, it annoys me (see my comment above) because

- it takes away details about what was possibly a good marrige

- it takes away the importance role of women

- It justifies centuries of woman not be allowed the in position of power in the church

again, I'm just annoyed that people picked and chose and changed for whatever agenda they had at the time and we are now living with the backlash of that

The only thing in the New Testament is the Finding in the Temple. But there's a lot of noncanonical stories about Baby Jesus and Child Jesus being difficult and killing children for making fun of him.

This is the only Biblical story I know about Jesus before age 13. I don't know of any real childhood miracles he performed.

Jesus being married wouldn't change anything about the central tenets of Christianity, would it?
