Dis iOS 6 ya'll...(iPhone update)

It's okay. I guess I can see the hype for 4s and 5 but a 4 doesn't get much out the bargain (which I think is stupid; you can give the 4s the same ish as the 5 but not the regular 4?! The only difference is Siri!) The ONLY thing I was excited about was the do not disturb option because I DO need to keep my phone on for emergencies and I'm a light sleeper. I also heard battery life improves...? But the jury's out on that.

Anyone else do the update for their iphone/apple products? Do you like it? Do you think it's worthwhile or pointless? I can imagine the newer model owners won't be as jaded as me. Lol

Sorry about the iPhone 4 users having limited updates. It's because that phone doesn't have enough RAM (internal memory) to store a full update file. The major changes are the Facebook integration, Apple maps, YouTube app and loss of integration, FaceTime activation over 3G and battery life. The rest are cosmetic (dial pad, music player, etc)

I like the FB integration, the Siri updates, and the new maps app looks nice and gives verbal directions.

It's nice to have FaceTime over a regular network.

But, the new maps app lost its transit option directions, so I still have to keep Google maps for bus directions.

I've noticed no difference in battery life.

I'm still getting used to the Google YouTube app.

The YouTube app isn't working with Apple TV via remote anymore. I used to search on my phone then connect to Apple TV because it was faster than typing with the Apple TV remote, but now connecting only leads to sound and no image.
The Apple TV is my friend's obviously.

It's nifty.

Because of the map issue I have not updated my phone yet. I find the transit very useful.

I just use my gps...in my car.

I haven't plugged my phone in I heard it takes forever.

I think siri is lame. I don't get the point of her.

I don't even know why I have an iphone. I use it for nothing other than what most other phones do. Texting and calling. BUT it is like the easiest phone on earth to use. Which is why I don't understand why other people don't have them. Like my dad is like that's too advanced. No, have you seen an iphone. It's like. I can't even. It's for infants who haven't even opened their eyes fresh out of the chuck NOT complicated.

LOL it is really easy to use. That's why I got it; it was the first smartphone I was getting, it's extremely user friendly and was an easy transition from a "dinosaur phone".

I was just gonna download mapquest's app since even google maps confused me at times, so i'm mot too worried about maps. And google made a youtube app anyway (good move) so I'll get that too. Lol. As for Siri...I mean I can see business folk needing her, but I feel like Siri's about to make the lazy come out a lot of people. Haha

And thank you for explaining that GoldenBlaze because I was feeling pretty cheated (but it ain't Apple's fault that I got the 4 when 4s was out I guess).

i didn't know about "do not disturb" either. what is it? how do you turn it on?

i haven't upgraded yet because i was scared it might break something.

i too want to know what the fb integration is. i enjoy fb, probably more than most, but i don't like it infiltrating ever aspect of my life (and apps). what is it integrating with?

i read what goldblaze typed as part of the what's new but i still didn't really know what it meant so i was waiting to upgrade.

i hate that the 5 requires all new accessories and plug in devices. that would keep me from upgrading to a 5 almost forever. i have 2 ipods and i like being able to use the same charger and docking station for all my idevices.

good article on iphone 5. agree the adapter things is a BIG drawback. as much as i love my iproducts i'd love to see this one fail. changing the adapter just doesn't make sense. i know they could have had the same adapter in their new fancy phone.

I don't see the new adapter as a problem. They had to make a change sooner or later. Eventually everyone will have the new one.

When I did a search to see if the update would be useful with my 3GS, I found a ton of articles on jailbreaking. Does anyone know why would I need to do this?

one time I used my phone to use directions to my brother's house. It took me all back woods and stuff, I ended up getting a ticket in some podunk town (which is the town of speeding traps according to the 5 people that live there that I met) what. They didn't even have a court house it was a little shack. SMALLER THAN MY ROOM. Never used iphone for directions again.

Yea, I think the iphone 5 is not impressive.

I would like a smaller version of the ipad. Which looks like you're holding a cereal box when you take pictures with it. STOP THE PICTURE MADNESS. i hate at work when people come in with their GIANT tablets taking pictures.

I think the iphone 5 changing the adapter is a bit dramatic. Like if I have ipods and stuff I Like to share the same chord, because well I lose chords all the time.
And now they're gonna have to create all new ihomes and crap.

But I don't really care, cause I don't have one. My phone case goes under water thats all I like. Life proof cases y'all. It works. Unless you're a man and don't read the directions. (Yea I said men don't read directions, so what, I'm a man hater and I'm proud)

The main issue I have with the update is I can't do FaceTime over 3G (Stupid AT&T.) I'd have to give up my unlimited data to get FaceTime over 3G. Not worth it, I'll just find some wifi.

to me it's a huge issue. when i traveled internationally earlier this year all i needed was one cord for my ipod and iphone. that wouldn't be the case now. lots of hotels and other places (i.e. fitness facilities) have invested in docking stations that allow people to use their iphone or ipod...have the new iphone, you're out of luck!

to me changing the adapter is a big thing and really just changes the ease of use for the product especially where there are other iproducts.

exactly. accessory companies are having a field day because they are hoping people buy all new adapters, accessories, etc. for the new phone. maybe they will. the size of the actual phone is like whatever, most people buy new cases with a new phone but that's one new purchase. the adapter is a whole other thing and makes the new iphone an even bigger financial investment.

oh well. i'll protect my 4s with my life. will the 5 be all you can get at some point? to me i hope the bloggers and everyone really trash apple over this selfish and "not for the consumer" decision to change the adapter.

Why not just use tango? I prefer it over FaceTime anyway.

Can I turn off the FB integration completely? Because I only use FB to run games under my gaming persona and don't want that connected to my real life stuff. I use my real life FB on my laptop only.

I like the idea of the DND feature, but if the school called about my son, I worry that it wouldn't come through (since I don't have all their outgoing lines to add to favorites). Hmm.

So I haven't downloaded it yet and done the update..............
