Do you get insulted when cats don't like you?
Tell me about a cat that disliked you.
My best friend had a cat named Dahlia. Siamese, of course. all I wanted to do was be friends with her and every time I'd try to pet her she'd hiss at me. I was so hurt.

No, I don't get insulted, because the feeling is mutual! Dogs rule, cats drool : )
That doesn't mean that those animal cruelty ads don't move me to tears, dogs & cats alike.

One of my cats hates almost everyone. I tell people when they come over to ignore her, the other one loves everyone!
It's funny though when she takes a liking to someone and everyone else tries to get friendly with her

No. I have an affinity for cats and seem to understand their nature. My first cat could never be held or cuddled and was pretty grumpy overall. I do try to get them to come over or win their affection and sometimes it works and other times not. I don't take offense to it. In a way that's what I kind of like about cats. Things have to be on their terms.
I know I would've tried to pet a Siamese! They are one of my favorite breeds. My neighbor had a chocolate point that was a retired show cat with a big belly, a sweet and chatty nature. Her name was Lola.
Anyway to get back on topic, I found a mother cat with two kittens who were living under my front porch. She was extremely aggressive to where I thought she may be feral. Looking back she most likely was being protective of her kittens. I am a sucker for kitties and was determined to help. I began bribing her with deli turkey which was all the motivation she needed to come out of her shell. I discovered she was sweet as pie once she warmed up to me and would follow me around the yard like a dog . When my neighbor took her kittens I found a rescue place that helped me get her fixed and her shots done if I fostered her and got her a home. She ended up with a great lady who had recently lost her previous cat and had a huge property for her to roam around on. I would've kept her for myself if she got along with my other cat.

It's interesting. I've realized that people favor cats tend to just not like dogs. But people who favor dogs tend to HATE cats. Wonder why that is.
I have dogs and cats so I'm an equal opportunity animal lover. <3

Was she a showgirl? LOL
My best friend now has two males, one seal point and one chocolate point. Balthazar and Melchisedec. I like the lilac points best I think.

She was a showgirl lol! She had the gams for it! The poor thing was used for breeding after her show days and was useless to the owner once she got older. She debunked the mean Siamese stigma that people often have. I love them all but do have a thing for blue points.

Cats always love me. They tend to seek out the people who don't like cats and/or are allergic.

Yep. They take one look at me and think, "Ooh, this one looks like she'd die of respiratory arrest if I rub up on her long enough. If I pretend affection no one will suspect a thing!"
The one exception is my aunt's cat, Millie. She feels no need to disguise her loathing of me. She hisses whenever she sees me, swipes at me at every opportunity, and once she just tracked me as I walked across the room, and I swear to god she was planning to go at my jugular. I hate that *****.

I have honestly never had a cat or dog not like me. I'm one of those weird people that will go over someone's house and be warned and their anti-social pet that hates people. Guess what? Fluffy is crawling all over me within minutes of meeting a Killer Fido is licking my hand and wriggling around like a puppy. I can get strays to come up to me even if I have no food and they usually run away from everyone else...can they sense that I'm on of their own and a young crazy catlady in the making?

I am a cat magnet. They love me. In my 37 years on earth I have only known one that did not. She belonged to my childhood friends Aunt Rosie. We would often spend a week or two with her, in Virginia (just outside of DC), during the summer. She liked no one other than her owner. Her name was Crystal, Abyssinian was her breed, and horrible was her nature. I tried several times to makes friends with this cat, and had many scratches and bite marks to prove it. One day I thought I had finally cracked her little wall. She jumped up on the edge of the bathtub, let me pet her, looked at me very sweetly, and then puked in the tub.
I hated that *%€!?+! cat.

Yeah, a little. But cats usually like me. Dogs can be another story.

I don't get insulted, but I do feel the need to win over any animal that doesn't immediately love me.

Same here. Cats just gravitate toward me. It's like a scene out of Sleepwalkers.
I'd take no offense to cats not liking me.

I love my parents dogs, Other dogs, no. Just no.
People always say they don't like cats cause they're sneaky and look like they're up to something. Dogs are annoying af.
I try to like dogs, but I just can't. I can't.
eta: That being said, I have no problems with dogs, people's dogs, etc, I don't hate them. I'll pet them, give them attention, but at the end of the day, I'm just not impressed.
on topic,
No. I would not. Cat's do their thing. People think that because I like cats I will like go crazy and try to pet a cat if I go somewhere, nope. I don't do that. If they come up to me, Yes. But I'm not going to go out of my way to bother some cat. Cause I know if I was a cat, I wouldn't want to be bothered. And I am a cat, and I don't want to be bothered.

My cat always ignored me for about 8 years until my ex husband moved out.
Now she loves me because I feed her now. She is really sweet and affectionate, almost hard to believe it's the same cat.

I'm definitely a dog person, but I feel strongly for all animals. I wish that more cats liked me, but in truth, I don't really understand them. I probably treat the three ferals I care for more like dogs than like cats, but what that means exactly, I can't say.
Anyway, I'm not hurt when they don't like me. I probably smell too much like dogs for them, or have the wrong nature or something. If they don't want to be friends, I'm okay with that. I'll still help them if they need it.

I for one have never encountered this problem. Some cats are shy or not so affectionate, but there's never been one that disliked me.

Cats are just that way. If a cat isn't drawn to me, I just figure It's their personality. Cats will do how they do. They probably *could* be trained, but the fact is they just don't want to be. I think they're very smart.
I love all animals. I don't get why some people are all 'I hate cats'.
