I'm wearing this dress to a wedding next weekend (it's still in the mid 70s-low 80s here) but I'm not sure how to accessorize it. The top has some pleating at the front and a bow detail on the right shoulder and it's a tan/mauve color. I'll be wearing black platform heels and if it gets cold, either a black blazer or black cardigan, which ever looks better.

I'm thinking I need earrings and/or a bracelet...but what color and style would work? I'm terrible with accessories, they are a foreign concept to me that I'm trying to learn. Suggestions? (Sorry for the huge photo, no matter how small I make it in Photobucket, it stays huge)

Hmm...I'm certain a silver bracelet or watch would be cute. You could also wear a necklace (chest length & silver). Earrings wise...studs definitely for a more polished look (pearls are pretty). Just what I think would look good but you can come up with a lot of good outcomes. Update what you decide on

Earrings and a bracelet? That sounds about right. (I always wear earrings and a bracelet and a watch and a ring and sometimes a necklace.)

I would be more concerned about shoes and cardigan/blazer. I'd be careful w/ a black blazer here. Could be good...or not. I hope the shoes aren't too chunky. Hard to really give comments w/o more info.

With the high pleated bodice, I probably wouldn't wear too much of a necklace...maybe a long thin-ish chain or long pearls. And pearl earrings, or long dangly sparkly earrings. A bracelet (or two) for sure. I'd stick to clean-line black shoes and ultra-sheer black hosiery.

Id say a long gold dainty chain with dainty earrings that dangle I would wear my hair in a high bun

I usually don't wear earrings and a bracelet and a necklace. Seems like too much to me. If attention is drawn to the top or neckline of the outfit, I'll probably do earrings and bracelet(s). If It's a plain, or open neckline, I may do a necklace and bracelet. If the necklace isn't too attention drawing, I may wear small, non dangly earrings.

Simple black heels and sleek black clutch. I would go with stud or slightly drop pearl earring, and a up do. Personally, I wouldn't wear a necklace. I never like them with that neckline. And I would maybe do a bracelet.

I try to follow the rule of Coco Chanel. Whenever you put jewelry on, take one piece off before you walk out the door. I always end up getting annoyed and taking one piece off anyway. It's better to leave it at home rather than throw it in my bag.

I missed the tan/mauve bow accent on the shoulder. Depending on the color, you might be able to find a faux animal skin clutch that incorporates the colors. I can't find the perfect pic of one, and sorry this is so tiny. It's just a general idea of the colors/print.



I tried to add another simple clutch that is a solid cloth tan/mauve with a black handle, but my photos are not not loading correctly.

** My phone is still not working, but there are tons of bag options. It just depends on the time of day, and if you want a little added drama. Simple solids, floral prints, lace overlay, etc. Even a solid black with a costume broach attached that brings in the mauve.
