Default Grey boots?

What color outfits would work with these grey boots?
What colors would they clash with?

I have found that sometimes "grey", when referring to boots, really does resemble a shade of brown a lot more than what we think of as typical grey. These boots may be labeled as "grey", but for all intents and purposes they are a shade of brown. At least to me.

Nevertheless, this particular boot, to me, is something only worn under pants. I would wear them under jeans, and if the color is noticeably different from black then black pants would be fine. If the color is noticeably different, OR almost identical to, brown pants then brown would be fine too.

Personally, I would never buy a pair of shoes that color because it is both too close, and too far, from black, and I often wear black pants. I'd pick a true gray, or a lighter/warmer brown, or black, to wear with black pants. Any of those colors would also go with jeans.

They look like a charcoal brown to me which is a great neutral.

Red, burgundy, purple, teal, bright blue, forest green, chartruese, cream, basically, any rich color would look great. Salmon would work also, or a strong golden yellow. You could also do a metallic (a silvery or bronze shirt or metallic threads in a pant).

You could wear black or navy with it, but those wouldn't be the most interesting color combinations, IMO. I also wouldn't pair most pastels with it, although pale blue would be excellent.

Enjoy!

ETA: I'm talking about colors on top. Right near the boot, go for a coordinating neutral, grey, brown or a subtle print like a small houndstooth.

It is a neutral color boot. It should go with any color, just like a black or brown boot would.

Thanks so much for your feedback everyone! I might buy them because I have many pairs of brown and black boots and I would have trouble keeping lighter grey boots clean and polished looking.

I have a pair of suede lace up ankle boots that color and I would wear them w/ almost anything. I don't wear brown pants so that wouldn't be an issue for me but either way, i would hesitate before pairing them w/ brown pants...but maybe that's just bc I think brown pants always look bad.

But anything else would be fine.

I wear mine w/ faded grayish black skinny jeans and the colors do not match but i still wear them together and they still look good.

Hmmm....maybe I should get them in dark brown as I wear brown pants quite often...What do you think...brown or grey?

Here they are in brown...

They are both so beautiful! The brown is a very rich color, but I think if you get the brown ones, they could be too close in color to brown pants. What I mean is, the two browns might not look so great together if they don't have a similar undertone.

If you get the grey ones and wear them with brown pants of any undertone, they will blend because they are both neutrals.

Buy whichever ones really "speak" to you. Which color is saying "buy me buy me?" Go with what you love best!

Thanks Curlypearl! I am leaning toward the grey ones as they are really beautiful. One review said the picture doesn't do them justices as the front of the boot has a touch of lighter grey. My biggest concern was if they would look good with my brown coats but I think that shouldn't be an issue!
