Help me decide! (Shoes)
So I've wanted a pair of red flats for a while now. And I found the perfect excuse to buy them...I'm going to be the Wicked Witch of the East for a kid's Halloween party I'm attending. (You know, the one the house falls on...so all I needed is the red shoes I want anyway, the striped tights I found at Target for 5 bucks, and a witches hat and black clothes). Anyways, back to the shoes. It's a super casual party, so I'm not concerned about which shoes are better for the costume.
Which of these do you like better, for regular life and do you think I'll wear more often? And why?! They both fit equally good.
1. Hush Puppies. It's a very-so-slightly pinkish red. It's not at all shiny, and is a traditional "bumpy" leather (if that makes any sense). There is a little bow in the back, where it artificially laces up the back. All of my "toe cleavage" is covered.
2. Kenneth Cole. It's a SUPER shiny red, like a shiny red car. Hard to describe really, but really just like a shiny car where it's almost shimmery underneath a thick clear coat, you know? There's a little toe cleavage.
I just keep thinking that the Hush Puppies are more casual and better for running around on the weekends, but the Kenneth Cole are dressier but would still be totally fine for running around on the weekends but just might stand out even more (too much? I don't know).
(Note: I bought them both on Zappos, so I have them both right now at home, and will return one pair. The price is close enough that it's a negligible difference for me).

I'm really picky about skimmers and really, really prefer a classic ballet flat look w/ a rounded toe, bow in front and black sole. So it's a little hard for me to judge these bc I want to judge them against what I think is "the right way" for a skimmer to look.
That said, I think red patent leather ballet flats (classic style) are just darling on most people...and your 2nd pair more closely resembles that so I would go w/ the 2nd pair. The first pair look a lil plasticky to me (at least from that pic) and are just too nondescript. They just look like something is missing and there isn't even the benefit of an interesting texture to distract you from that.

They both look alike, so I'd go with the pair without toe cleavage.

No, I don't think the shiny texture is too much. I wear black patent leather ballet flats all the time w/ all kinds of jeans, legings and cropped yoga style pants. I see women wearing patent leather flats all the time in various colors w/ the grungiest of jeans and leggings and cords.
What would you be wearing on wknds? I wouldn't wear them w/ cargoes or sweats but yes, w/ anything else.

things I'd consider:
1. I have a thing about what my shoe looks like looking down on it, and don't like the stubbed-toe look of many flats for that reason - so I'd err on the side of the less rounded (unless it is rounded but not stubby looking)
2. which is more comfortable? (My experience w/Kenneth Cole flats is not a lot of cushioning under my foot, which I need, and would make me wear them less)
3. which pair makes me smile when I put them on my feet? because even if i went with the "logical" choice, if the smile factor isnt' there, they'd sit in my closet unworn.
4. also, if the plan is to wear around town, etc for general stuff, will patent be too shiny? (sometimes this is an issue, sometimes it isn't)
ETA: I just read Spiderlashes' response to this (above) she makes good points on that one.

Sorry, I don't really like the toe on either shoe, the first look a little frumpy and the shiny ones look a little cheap and 'candy apple' in the picture to me, but color is hard to tell on a computer monitor.
I like these better for a red patent flat.

I'm not buying more. It's one of these two! I like them both, that's not the issue. And I know they look near identical in the pic. The difference is really just what I described--the non-shiny pinker red, or the super duper shiny true red. And really, "patent" isn't even the right word for them. They are shinier than any patent leather I've ever seen.
This is really the dilemma. The smile factor is bigger with the shiny ones, but they might be TOO shiny to wear around town! With jeans, generally. And I'd also like to wear them to work with black ankle pants, for example.
I guess the real question is: how shiny is too shiny? Basically, if I can convince myself they're not too shiny I'll keep them because I like them better. If they're too shiny, I'll go with the other pair!
Ahhh, the hard questions in life.

both pairs are really nice... if I had to choose one, I guess I would choose the first pair, because it's less shiny and more suitable to every occasion

Yeah, the shape of the toe is really killing it for me. Almond toe or sightly pointy toe flats feel old ladyish to me.
Just can't get into either pair for that reason.
But I feel the shiny texture sort of distracts you from the shape.

I love red and like them both. I like the bow detail of the 1st pair and I like the toe cleavage and shine of the 2nd pair. So I guess price and comfort would have to come into the decision.

I like 1 better. #2 is too shiny for me.

These shoes are totally not my style so my advice may not count which is fine.
#1 seems more practical(as in it would match with more stuff) and looks more comfy to me(but I'm assuming both have the same level of comfort since you didn't mention it). It has a cute back which is a plus.
#2 looks nicer so it depends on which one you'd wear more often. Are you planning on wearing them with stuff that would go with something that looks a bit nicer. I guess for what i wear it would be too shiny except when I want to look extra dressy which may be how you dress normally. If you're really feeling #2, you should get that one.

Personally I can't get into shiny. I bought a pair of red shiny flats and when I tried them on I was all smiles and gaga over how cute they are. I NEVER wear them. With any outfit I put in I feel like they are too shiny and for that reason they stay in my closet. And I am pretty out there with fashion.
For that reason I'd go with the first pair.

This sounds like me. You may have just swayed me. I have until Saturday to decide!

These are mine. Not the best picture but you get the idea. I think they are super cute but I have worn them maybe...3? times in the last 3 years.

If you wear them with pants, would you even see the bow in the back of the first pair? I like that detail but I'm not sure it would show up - wouldn't pants cover it?
I'd pick the 2nd pair because I like shiny and I like toe cleavage, but if either pair is the teensiest more comfy, I'd pick the comfy one.

It depends on your style. I personally would go for the first because I am just a more casual person. I usually wear yoga pants on the weekend unless I'm meeting up with someone or something.

I like these much better than the two in question. And I would wear them on the reg w/ jeans and jeggings and everything.
