Or am I just doing it all wrong?

I'm looking for threads on Twitter. I put the word "Twitter" in the search field and I'm just getting hits from threads on page 1. The same thing happens when I select the search posts option.

I'd do a search on how to use the search engine...

What's the trick?

I don't think it works for anyone. No trick.

But Google Advanced Search is great. I've found threads using it.

I don't have much issue with the search. I can usually find what I'm looking for.
The only time I have issues is if the title has a bunch of short words, or if I remember the title wrong, but then I search for a specific poster or a particular word.

It can be tricky. I have trouble finding some of my own old topics!

If you know it's in non-hair you can limit to searching just non-hair. If you're not already doing that, it may help.

I had a bunch of results. It must not work when you click it.

Just go to Advanced Search and type in Twitter. Make sure to click that you don't want all open boards but rather just non-hair results.
You can specify further depending on which thread you want.

I've always been able to use it without a problem. I do specify one particular forum though.

It works for me unless I'm looking for a three letter word. I got 11+ pages of posts for twitter just with the regular search.

I've tried this method too and nada. Same threads as on page 1.

I've never had an issue. For those with issues, you're using the search in the blue bar, between New Posts & Quick Links, and not the search at the top of the page?

Thanks, CC. I used both search boxes. Who knows, maybe a lot of the threads on page 1 have the word "Twitter" in them and that's why it looks like I'm not getting any hits, when in fact I am.

I usually use the advanced option, and it works pretty well for me.

In general, though, this site is just funked up for me lately. It's S-L-O-W and constantly crashes. It makes me not even want to come here much.

I get good results using the search function that is in the main menu bar, with the purple "search" button.

The search function that is built into the boards, which is located in the aqua bar between new posts and quick links, is fairly useless.

See that's the only one I ever use.

I do "Advanced search" and specify, for instance, "non-hair discussion" and I get the results I'm looking for.

Same. However, if I'm feeling lazy I go to Google and type in a phrase I specifically remember being used. I get fewer results that way.
