Nobody is saying it's the only holiday in December. But it's the one where people exchange gifts which in turn is why we have this gift exchange.

my father's parents never gave us gifts for xmas - that day was reserved for church and eating.
gifts were given out for St. Nicholas Day (December 6 or the 19th on the Orthodox calendar). it's an older European traditions that is still followed, especially in countries were religion was suppressed for decades under communist rule. in Scandinavian countries, gifts are exchanged on St. Lucia's Day (December 13), again leaving xmas for church and feasting.
Hanukkah and Kwanzaa both have gift giving traditions over multiple days.

I will still call gift exchanges Secret Santas and I will use Christmasy paper and stickers and cards and I will send ornaments and whatever other Christmasy stuff I feel like sending as long as I think it's something my curly would like.
And I hope whoever gets my name doesn't worry that she will buy or send the 'wrong' thing.

I have always noted which holiday I celebrate in my list. I thought it was already in the listing questions.
It doesn't matter what we call it, it's a winter gift exchange, meant to be fun. Let's please stop arguing about it, it's ruining the fun.
And I wouldn't be offended by any gift I got, if it was sent with love.

I apologize for the crankypants mood getting in the way of this thread.
But I will always say what I think. And I think we need to just relax and quit worrying that some person somewhere someday might roll their eyes because someone sent them a card that had the word Christmas on it.
You all are allowed your opinion on the matter and I'm allowed mine. And that is/was my point.

June (pearl, alexandrite)
My bathroom is ocean colors (soft greens, blues, and taupe) with beachy accessories. My bedroom is a color called mulled cider, but it reminds me more of pumpkin pie...a brownish orange. It doesn't really have a theme, though I have mission style furniture.

My birthday is in May.
Bathroom is dark green and brown, with a bamboo motif and accents. Bedroom is a bit eclectic--no real theme. Our bedspread is dark brown.

birthday in March, birthstone is aquamarine - I think...pale blue anyway.
bedroom is lavender and blue
bathroom is white and blue with some dark purple
We celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday as well as full blown family party with too much wine, food and gifts. We have a pagan tree and we do talk about other belief systems as well. We are very open-minded and like Santa and his elves (except for Elf on the Shelf who is CREEPY!!!) and his raindeer.
I am easy to please, really. Unless it's an ugly Christmas sweater and then I would put you on the naughty list!!! But ugly Christmas socks are definitely permissible! Did I mention I love wool???

I am Christian and I do celebrate Christmas. I'm not offended by Santa Claus. Who doesn't like a fat man that slides down a chimney and brings presents?
My only requirements are silver and purple. I know which way my curly goes and she won't be disappointed.

I celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday, but the secular/pagan aspects don't offend me.
