The Election's Today!!

Like Tree13Likes

I am soooo nervous. It's 5:40am and I'm about to go up the street to wait for the polls to open at 7am. Last year I was in line for over two hours. I can't even. My good friend's also giving birth so I want to be there for that.

But yeah Im probably gonna have the TV on CNN or MSNBC (I'm totes biased) all day and just do homework. I am going to be a nervous wreck all day. Haha. I might have to go to the ABC store...

Whatch'yall doin today???

Was planning to go after work and then read in the paper that polls opened at 6am. So I hustled and voted before work.
I will probably start with MSNBC (proudly biased), but will switch to Comedy Central when they start at 11pm.

I took the day off so I could say and do whatever I wanted without getting in trouble. Spending the day writing papers and catching up on reading.

I was first in line, but didn't vote first (I was turned away, they weren't ready. By the time I got back there were 20 people in line ahead of me). I was done by about 7:30 (polls opened at 7).

I hope people get their a**es up and vote today. Please. Vote for not just yourself, but for what's truly fair and right.

Oh my god. The polls opened at 6. I got there at 6:15 and left at 8:05. Straight ridiculous. AND I had to pop off at the lady checking my voter card and license! She claimed my ID was invalid since I'm over 21 and it's not horizontal nor is it the newer version that's issued now.

...I snapped quick. My license doesn't expire until 2015. What ima buy a new one for just so it can be the same info on a rotation? She backtracked once I gave her my "would you like to pay 32 dollars for my new license?" remark but she really tried to play me.

"Why do you have this license if you're over 21?"
"because it expires in 2015."
"Well it's not valid. WHY don't you have a horizontal license again?"
"WHAT am I gonna pay 32 dollars for when I can wait till it expires in THREE YEARS?!? Ma'am IT IS TOO EARLY FOR THIS BULL."

She got right though. I voted. Whatevz.

I voted by mail last week. I commend those who are going into loooooooooooooong lines, especially those in NY and NJ and any terrible situation. If this is a tight race like we are being told, every vote really does count, swing state or not!

I voted by paper ballot this time. No voting booth. Just a long sheet and a private spot to fill it out. I'm done. Now I wait.

I have never had my license checked. If you showed your ID when you registered, you are not required to show ID at the polls (Maryland). At my polling place they could look you up to see if you were registered in whatever database they use, they print out a sheet and ask you to confirm your info (address, name, etc) and sign it verifying that it is correct and true. Then you get your little card and go vote.

Shortest wait ever. Actually no wait. There was one person ahead of me. Parked at 8:10 and was back in my car at 8:19. This time the schools are all closed on election day(I vote at an elementary school) and the early voting lines in our county were short compared to others. It's been getting better every 4 years. Then went back home, had breakfast with mom and got to work an hour ago.

I don't know how im going to get any work done today!
Took me about 10 minutes. I've got a busy day ahead at work. I'm nervous!

So you know what I'm talking about.....but he really did set up an altar-like thing for Reagan in his office. It was there for half an hour and then was never seen again (totally illegal to do where we work). LOL

I have to go pick up my wedding dress after work, then meet DF at home & go vote. I am on such pins & needles!!!
Its interesting you guys have your ID checked. Ours you just walk in say your name and they cross it off on the sheet and you vote. No proving who you are.
