Prominent heartbeat
For the past 2-3 months, I have noticed that my heartbeat has become VERY prominent. It's to the point where I can't sleep at night sometimes because its pounding. I don't think it's faster than normal, but you can definitely see my stomach go up and down, as well my shirt where the heart is. Kind of like a little fist is punching from the inside but no pain.
Has anyone experienced this? I can't see to find anything when I type into google.

That happened to me when I was pregnant. I could hear/feel the pulsing in my ears. I wonder if it's hormonal or somehow related to your blood pressure. Have been taken any new medications?
If you're really concerned, definitely go see your doctor.

Yes - When I was very thin this would happen to me & make me nervous. I could actually see it happening too. I heard that if you are dehydrated the heart has to pump harder. Maybe you need more fluids?

I've had this and notice it usually when I get into bed (but haven't exerted myself). It scares me because I have a heart condition and I've brought it up to my cardiologist, but he doesn't seem fazed.

Yes, I used to have these episodes in my mid-20s. Rapid heartbeat, and I'd feel kind of weak and exhausted at the same time- oh and my hands would shake.
I went to a cardiologist and had all the tests done, and nothing ever showed up...eventually the episodes just kind of went away on their own.

Mine will do that when I'm in bed experiencing anxiety. It's very scary. I'm afraid I'm going to have a heart attack.

I've had this happen. When I went to the doctor, the only thing they found was that I was low on iron. They gave me a recommendation for a good iron pill and it seemed to go away.

This area is under construction as my hair type changed and nothing works well for me. I shampoo, I condition and pretty much have done nothing but chuck my hair in a messy bun for the past oh...year? Yeah, I'm that lazy.
No...going no-poo or CG does not work for me. It leaves me overconditioned and oily in a second no matter what I use, so that's not what's not working.

Thanks b-wavy, I gave it a read over ad made an appt with my Dr for the 16th. It's not really a thing that comes in phases, it's more of an all day thing. It's not rapid or anything, just very present and very frustrating when I'm trying to sleep at night. I couldn't cope with this forever I'd go round the twist!!

I think you should get your blood pressure checked. And possibly wear a monitor for 24 hours or so to make sure everything looks normal.

This used to happen to me!! Usually when I was relaxing which is why it freaked me out. Someone mentioned being really skinny, and I should note that I was underweight/borderline at the time.
The thing that got me to the doctor was that my heart also skipped a beat a few times. I became sure that my heart was going to stop beating for no reason. Looking back, stress may have had something to do with it....and then the fear made the stress even worse.
Anyway, I went to the doc, wore a heart-monitoring thing for a day, and basically nothing came of it. It went away on it's own, I think as I left a stressful situation and became happier in general. The doctor did mention that I might be border something-or-other....I forget the name, but apparently Lincoln had it, and it involves your heart, having big hands, and the length of your arms being more than the length of your body up and down?? But he told me not to worry about that for another few years so I basically forgot about it....

It is the weirdest thing. I am not underweight it not overweight either (I also don't have large hands or long arms lol).
I just took a testing heart rate and it was at 79 beats per minute which is high, should be somewhere closer to 65ish.
It's funny that stress has been suggested as I don't feel stressed mentally, but maybe my body is telling me something. My muscles are sore, I'm getting headaches, and I got a cold sore the other day which I haven't got in ages.
Maybe I need a yoga class!

That's Marfans Syndrome. I have a niece that's borderline too but the requirements are crazy specific and even though she has 7 of the 10 markers they won't diagnose her. Apparently a lot of NBA players have them too.

Is it possible you have an undiagnosed infection of some sort? I once had an ear infection with no symptoms other than increased heart rate and occasional palpitations which freaked me out considerably. I'm not much for diagnosing on the internet but just throwing that in there.

It happened to me too. Tests came back normal. The doctor then asked me if I drank coffee (I did) and asked me to cut back on caffeine. I did and the problem went away.
But do get it checked out. There could be any number of reasons.

I advocate getting it checked out, for your peace of mind. It's probably nothing serious but why have that worry?
Also, walnuts are recommended to encourage a smooth, steady heartbeat. When I went through meno, I was having occasional palpitations and was told about walnuts. If you like them, eat a few each day. Couldn't hurt, might help.
Let us know what's causing this worrisome issue. Hope you are fine!
