Guys, I'm very happy. And drunk from last night. And at work now. And feeling physically awful. I can't believe Florida still hasn't counted. I just want to go home, crawl into bed and watch more news. I was at 2 watch parties so I missed out on some stuff. Apparently Diane Sawyer was drunk on tv? I'm very happy. Oops I already said that. Oh and my brother did vote and that made me happy too.
Oh and a cop came last night because we were being too loud. And I didn't care. Good thing we were already getting ready for bed by the time she came. She asked if we were being loud and I said yes(as in duh, the president just won!). I think she was surprised I said yes and didn't know what to say lol.

Where I totally understand that the election brings passionate reactions (as it should), personal attacks are not tolerated, and accomplish nothing. It does not further making your point, but rather offends members and causes them to ignore your opinion and focus on your hostility.
Keep voicing your opinion on the election and results, but keep the insults to yourself.
That goes for everyone, of course.

Actually, the drop in the stock market is being said to be a reaction to bad economic news from Europe, more than a reaction to election results.

They said that early this morning. My husband voted Romney and I voted Obama. He looked at me today and said he hoped this didn't affect our retirement fund too much. I am hoping this is a temporary reaction and the market comes back in the next day or so.

Are you referring to me because I mentioned our retirement fund? We are two middle class people who (a) worked all their lives, (b) never had children, (c) began to save for our retirement from the moment we got married. My husband was of the mentality that you saved first. Even when we were dating and I had barely enough money to pay my rent, utilities and car payment, he convinced me to save every payday. We aren't rich, but we aren't poor either.

I'm super late to this thread, but this caught my eye.
I'm excited and relieved about what happened yesterday, but I still don't believe this. New *******s are being made everyday. I think we'll make progress on some issues, like civil rights/marriage equality for gay people, as time passes and old homophobes die off, but racial inequality seems to me more stubborn and more interwoven into our culture.
