Things that really scared you or bothered you at a kid (that weren't scary)

When I was very little, I had a nightmare about a monster in my bedroom window--the monster was within the glass. I was scared to go to sleep with the curtains open for years. (Like until high school).

I was scared of mirrors in a dark room after playing Bloody Mary with some friends at a middle school sleepover.

Also, I was scared of the character Beetlejuice from the movie.
I know how this kid feels.

When I was 4 years old I had a record player that play children fairy tales. One record was Jack and the Beanstalk. When the narrator started reading about how the Giant woke up and that Giant started chasing Jack down that Beanstalk it scared the hevey bajevies out of me. I would never play that record after that one time. To this day I don't like that story.

I used to be scared of the Neighborhood Watch sign:

3c/4a
I was deathly afraid of, and intensely disturbed by, the Mr. Yuck sticker and all the commercials. (although, I guess that was kinda the point of them...?)

McGruff the crime dog.

Nuclear war.

Jason from Friday the 13th

Toothy fur balls that would come up out of the toilet and bite your butt if you say on the toilet too long.

Boogey men under the bed.

My big brother used to freak me out about so many things. He's 7 years older than me & he would tell me scary stuff that freaked me out for years. Like:

"Don't ever step on any black floor tiles because God will see and mark it down in his book. Then if you have too many marks he'll send you to the devil." That traumatized me for a long, long time. Sometimes I was so scared to step on any flooring with black in it, I would throw a fit and refuse to enter a room. Yeah thanks bro.

Enjoying the journey to APL or BSL!
The Gingerbread Man. I had the story on a record. I still remember that creep saying "Run, run as fast as you can! You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man!"

The idea of a giant cookie kicking the oven door open? Arrgghhh!

I was born to be a pessimist. My blood type is B Negative.

M.A.M.M.A. from the Muppet show. My bedtime was immediately after the Muppet show, and I had a nightmare that it was chasing me. I even did a blog entry on it--more details here.
When you left onions and potatoes too long and they sprouted those green horns. OMG. That plagued me well past college graduation. I mean screaming scared and almost throwing up grossed out!
