Online Bra Shopping

Does anyone have any experience with returning to Bare Necessities or Her Room?

Any other sites anyone would recommend for buying bras online?

I have bought from Bare Necessities before & been happy but I was certain of my size/style and knew I wouldn't have to return. I can't find my size in many styles in any brick & mortar retail stores so I need to purchase online. But I want somewhere that will be easy to return if necessary.

I haven't ordered from them yet but I've been wanting to try True & Co.

I love bare necessities, I've been shopping with them for years. I buy all my bras online... You won't find a 34 HH at Pennys that's for sure. I also like figleaves. Both normally have pretty good sales 2-3 times a year but this past black Friday was just weak. I've never had a problem buying or returning. I also recently found a British company I like. I can't remember the name right now but they were pretty good on size availability. Only problem w/ the British company is I live in Maryland so my bras had to go through homeland security... Seriously... It took an extra few weeks for them to arrive. Trust me there was no WMD in that box!

Happy shopping

Just remembered

Bravissimo (sp) I bought a swim suit but didn't return it. I've also been getting catalogs from simply be. I think bravissimo sold my address. Anyway I have tried them yet but the bras are available in larger cups and are fairly cheap. But they may also be cheaply made.

Maybe one of our fellow Brits can chime in

Oops, I had forgotten about fig leaves & bravissimo.

I'll check them for my size and brand.

I'm a small band with larger cups. I've always loved Chantelle. What brands do you ladies love? Chantelle has discontinued my favorite styles & my size has changed, so now I need to try on new styles to find my "go-to" everyday bra :)

Have you tried going to Nordstrom? It's the only store that I've been in that always has very hard to find sizes on hand in many different brands/styles. The fitters there are very knowledgeable.

If you find a style you like, you can always go online to find the same one - it's usually cheaper.

Nordstrom only carries one or two styles in the brand I like in my size. I confirmed my size there when they had a few bras from different brands there (that had been purchased online & returned in store), I could try on but I didn't like the fit with the style. They don't carry my size in store :(

I've done returns to Bare Necessities. Never any problems. I've never insured or done anything special with the return. Just put regular postage and mailed.

I love Freya & Panache although I nomally need to increase the cup size with panache.

HerRoom is having a sale on Chantelle so I ordered 2 from them. They're both back ordered but hopefully it all works out :)

I'm a 30E or 30DDD. I order from either figleaves or bare necessities, as I have a hard time finding my size on the ground. Specialty bra/bridal stores or sex shops sometimes have my size, but I find online shopping easier. I love Panache and Freya, as well as Pour Moi and Parfait by Affinitas brands. My bra size is the same in all four brands. Pour Moi is inexpensive. I can find bras in my size from them that are under $30, which is a great bargain from the other brands that serve women in sizes larger than DD.

Thanks! But do you wear both 30E (DD) and 30F (DDD) depending or which size? I wear 30F, though I may fit a 28G. I haven't tried them to be certain they wouldn't fit better than the 30F, but my measurements indicate I'm around the two sizes. I will definitely look into those brands. Thanks!

My size online is either 30E or 30DDD; they're supposed to be the same size. One is the American size and the other is the European size. I can't fit a 30DD; the cups are always too small. When I was measured in a bridal/specialty bra store, my size was 30E. My actual bustline was 28.5 when measured, but the cup size bumped it up to 30.

I've also returned a bra and a bikini top to either Bare Necessities or Figleaves and I had no problem. Their return policies are very good.

Sizing, as I have always seen it, typically goes:
US = EU
D = D
DD = E
DDD = F

That's why I was confused by your post :)

fonki 12-01-2012 04:23 PM

I've had only good experiences with figleaves. I'm pretty sure there's a online tutorial on size charting for bras.

Sorry about the confusion, but on Figleaves and Bare Necessities, 30DDD equals 30E, although I've seen the chart you listed. :-) However, when I've tried to fit into the 30DD, the cups never fit and I have to return the bra. So I'm guessing we're the same size. I usually always purchase 30E, since that is what I was told when I was fitted in a store and that size always works, regardless of the brand.

juicyfruit 12-01-2012 06:40 PM

I thought DDD = E for most brands.

iroc 12-01-2012 07:50 PM

I always though E = DD, F = DDD.

I bought bras online in an E and the cups were too SMALL. So in this case the E was a DD.

According to the barenecessities site, after DD, it depends on whether it is European sizing or UK sizing. So, on the one hand, a US DD = E = European E = UK DD; on the other hand, a US DDD = F = European F = UK E. A US DDDD = G = European G = UK F, and so on.

And even with this kind of chart, there is still no universal standard sizing. From brand to brand and style to style, bras will (obviously) fit differently. I also find that sports bras seem to fit small and most women seem to need to go up a size or so.

And Enell has a totally different sizing system.
