Very cool. I guarantee she'll love it. I was thinking if you had gotten me in the exchange I'd get something horsey for sure.

I'm trying to post a photo of the box and tag because it has that special "made by a small business" classy touch to it, but my phone isn't wanting to upload the image.

I said it in email, and really should say it in public...

I know! I always say I'm the easiest person in the world to buy for - but I've been trying to get myself more bracelets and the saying is so perfect for me - it's like the perfect dream gift.

Dear super (not so) secret curly- 'cause I know who you are.

My gift is at the post office and I will be going to get it tomorrow before school. Our post offices don't deliver packages so I will have to take the notification receipt and go get it.

I smiled when I saw the receipt. Please, rest easy. It's pretty much in my hands now......

I had posted pics on FB in August of her in a straw hat, wearing a boa? That was her birthday and she was so drunk she couldn't read the pendant. It was no help that we told her it was written backwards and she needed to use a mirror to do it

Sorry for the lousy pics...

Also, I almost missed that there was a note in the package from the vendor, and was going to post here asking if anyone had sent it! It came in a box with a pretty tag on it, but I didn't realize the tag opened up to show a note inside. Then I found it!
I'm happy that you are happy! It looks really nice. I am glad you like the choice I made. I would rather have let you pick and personalize but that didn't work out. Enjoy and happy holidays!

I would have picked exactly what you bought, so... good taste!

I have thought about getting myself a personalized necklace since I could do one with all the horses on it... but would have gotten exactly that bracelet first!

NETG!!! OHGosh! THANK YOU!! I got two huge boxes today waiting for me when I came home. They are filled with the best goodies ever! There are 2 art books: Essential Monet which has the most amazing color photos of his paintings (and I love them so much!!) and Art Through the Ages, from the Renaissance through Modern Art. These are wonderful

I also got a lovely purple handknitted headband that will keep my ears very warm this weekend. I have a lovely, scumptuous Mate Chocolatte tea with spices. It smells heavenly and tastes divine. I also got a Dia de los Muertos doll that I think I will hang on my Christmas tree for now - I hope that's not offensive - and then he will have a place of honor in my China cabinet.

There are 2 gorgeous silver rings also! One is made from a piece of silverware and has a beautiful pattern around it. One end overlaps the other and it fits perfectly on my right thumb - the thumb that wanted a ring so badly for some time now! The second ring has a large polished stone that is green, teal, gold and browns and I cannot stop looking at it. It has found a happy home on my right middle finger. I wish my hands would photograph better but I do not have feminine hands; I have artisan/craftsman hands that are scarred from sports and working and knotted with arthritis. My hands do not do these rings justice at all but I will wear them with joy and gratefulness.

I also got 3 fluffy skeins of yarn in tater tot inspired colors I will have much fun with these!

NetG - thank you so much! I have had a really horrid day (I iwll post on a seperate thread about that - I don't want to sully this happy thread!!!) and these beautiful gifts and perfect card made me cry a happy cry.

I send you across the internet, and the universe at large, gratefulness, peace, love and joy this holiday season. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

I finished unpacking my box and I seriously had tears in my eyes.

Jeepy: THANK YOU!!!!!! Times a.....bajillion. I kinda suspected that you were my curly because no other country does customs quite like we do. I was a bit miffed that they got to see all my gifts before I did, boo!!!

I started opening my package as soon as I got it and the post lady looked at me and said, "you're opening it here?" (Yes, lady. I am).

Here's my loot:

Nail Polish- Revlon's Ruby Ribbon and Emerald City (Matte Suedes). Ruby Ribbon was the one that started both my obession with Revlon and mattes so it was beyond fitting. Emerald is Pantone's colour of the year for 2013, so, ha! Polishes are also awesome because I'm on a "no-buy" til Feb. I was really hoping my curly would send some so that I could kinda "cheat" on my rule

Two bottles of shower gel: One Peppermint Twist and one Christmas Cookies....I might start poking people and telling then how good I smell once I start using these.

A travel sized bottle of Jessicurl shampoo (and lard knows I been needing some shampoo) which is mild enough to use on my freshly bleached hair.

A bottle of maple syrup made in Jeepy's town (state?): Someone recently asked what maple syrup tastes like so I cannot wait to share this with them. Great call, Jeepy! The pouch is also one of *the* cutest things ever.

For the Economics major: A copy if "Confessions of an Economic Hitman!!!!!!" I have stuff to read y'all!

Two bookmarks (which happen to be calendars) with photographs of monkeys....there is one that kills me every time I look at it. Hilarious!

Two bottles of roll on perfume: One "starfruit mango" and the other "winter grapefruit." I'm going to smell good for 2013

Also, having joked about not knowing how my love of sleeping will help my curly in any way, Jeepy got me satin pillow cases, which I am ashamed to say I did not own before.

and finally, a super sweet card signed by Jeepy and resealed by the Jamaican customs See photo.

Be honest, y'all are jels, right?!

As an aside: I suspect it was the book that may have held up customs so long. We have a list of books that aren't supposed to be imported into the island, maybe they were busy checking that? (and reading my card)

SIB:

It's funny that you should post about books because I borrowed "Krak" by Danticat to read over the holidays. I smiled when I saw her name and immediately thought of you.

I'm really looking forward to reading "Confessions" all I need now is some hot cocoa.

kayb, the whole time I was whining on here about the package being stuck and you kept saying it would be fine I wanted to say BUT KAYB THEY ARE YOUR PRESENTS!! YOU SHOULD BE WORRIED!! hahaha.

I am so glad you got everything and before Christmas! I really thought the maple syrup (yes from just outside my town) was the 'contraband' that held it up. I didn't think it would be the book! (and I have to tell you, I almost didn't get the book even tho it was on your list because it sounded so boring! hahaha!).
I'm really glad you liked everything. It was very fun shopping for you.

Oh and by the way kayb (and everyone else)!! Do not buy yourselves gifts that are on your like list! I was afraid one of the nail polishes was the same as the one you just bought the other day. Grrr.

Yay! I'm so glad they got there today. I knew you were worried, and tried to be as good as I could with all the different things you said you like! When my mom had extra yarn, and you said you liked purple, and are always cold... I had to get her to knit that. I wish I had the talent, but at least I have a talented Mom! And I thought maybe you could make use of that yard. It seemed perfect to use as extra stuffing.

We have an arts festival every spring and fall, and I knew I would get you a ring there (didn't know I'd find two I loved!) and the only disappointing thing to me was no one was selling fruity salsas like you said you like.

I wanted to send you something which represented this area/culture. I collect Oaxacan wood carvings which we get lots of here, and Dia de los Muertos is HUGE here, and we have something called the All Souls Procession for which people come from around the world. So finding a Talavera/Dia de los Muertos guitar playing Oaxacan carving was perfect. And I almost bought you Christmas ornaments before I found that, so use it as you wish!

Knowing it might be tough for you in the very near future I wanted to try extra hard to do well, and I'm glad it could give you a smile or two!

Yeah, the timing was perfect. I understand how frustrating customs can be after having a gift delivered about 9 months after it was sent (it made it's way to Mexico for a while).

Re the bolded, I thought that you might have thought so. But it's totally not. I now own three colours from their line and they only made four so that's more than enough (and I don't think the white would look good on me)

Thanks again (and I'll do my best not to shop for myself next year).
