New kitty?
So I adopted a chubby adult they I named Pudge...in boots, earlier this year. She's sweet and adorable. This is my first time having a cat that I didn't raise from a kitten. She's not a lap cat. She's warmed to me quite a lot and I love her. I have a mouse issue in my kitchen and every other cat I've had would never let that be. I was thinking about maybe getting another cat...maybe a kitten. Now when I got Pudge they said she was best as an only cat...she is pretty jumpy but like I said she has been warming up a lot. I asked the people at PAWS they said another cat wouldn't really add anything to her life. I think maybe she may be more active while I'm at work if she had a friend. Plus maybe I could get a lap cat who will cat my mouse.
Any thoughts from u pet lovers?
Pudge is also greedy...as her name implies...so I worry abt her not letting the other one eat.

Back on Cones,so now my routine is,wash with Deva No-Poo every other day or so. Occasionally use 365 sulfate free, maybe use low sulfate shampoo mixed with conditioner once every two weeks are longer. I condition with Aussie Moist or HEHH. I style with a little GF TN,and finish up with tons of GN Pure Clean Smoothing Cream. No frizz...slippy, happy hair.

Were you told why she should be an only cat? That tends to be a designation for cats that are prone to bullying or being bullied.

And sometimes for cats that react badly at an adoption fair (yea I know it's silly but true). How old is Pudge? The reason I ask is females tend to get more set in their ways than males do as they age. Possibly a male kitten would work. I probably wouldn't go older than 6 months though.

Pudge is about 3 years old, and when I got her she was in the shelter for 7 months. She didnt like the noise and all the activity for that long. When a car backfires she jumps. When I first got her she was very aloof, it's taken months but she will sleep at the foot of my bed and let me per her belly now. I got her some toys and she runs around to chase them some. Very cautious of new people. Occasionally she'll let them pet her.
She has come a long way and they told me cause she was in the shelter so long it would take her a while to warm up.

In my experience, cats aren't necessarily playful with other cats unless they grow up with them. Bringing another cat, especially a kitten, will probably just annoy Pudge. The fact that they said she should be an only kitty makes me think that might be why her previous owners turned her in.
I would suggest either keeping Pudge as an only kitty or fostering a kitty temporarily to see how she does. With all the cats in shelters these days, I know there are all kinds of cats that need fostering. That way, if it doesn't work out in a week, you can give the cat back and call it a day.

She's really jumpy...I can't imagine her being a bully. If I was gonna get one it would be a kitten...so she would already be top..ugh...dog...lol

Yeah...maybe ur right. And Pudge wasn't even turned in...a volunteer found her on the street. She was micro chipped so either she got out...or someone just threw her out.

Maybe after I've had her a year...like this summer or something. I was in Petsmart getting her some toys and they have an adoption area. Cutest damn cats ever!! A little black kitten sucked on my finger. And there was a sweet grey cat with lots of extra toes...and another black one who was reaching his paw out of the cage to tap me.
