the security guard at Disney was my favorite!
I do that to little girls I see dressed up all the time, they love it!!
ETA I don't mean ask for their autograph. I usually say "omg are you a princess? you look very pretty!"

heres a story that had me tearing up. members of a village donate their own land and homes to preserve their sacred forest that was to be razed for development. i cant wrap my mind around the fact that these dirt poor people are willing to give up land theyve been living on for generations...its a mindboggling sacrifice

a story from a personal experience. about 6-7 years ago my teenage nephew and i was coming home from somewhere and was stopped at a light turning left on a expressway. after several tight turns it was obvious we werent moving so cars in front of me began switching lanes, honked and cussing out the first car. it had its emergency lights on and when i passed by i saw that an older woman was driving with her young passenger daughters. because it was an expressway it was dangerous for them to leave the vehicle and so they were stuck until help arrived. at the next light about a mile away i looked at my nephew and asked,"you want to do something nice?" he nodded so i u-turned.
i saw that the stranded car was still there so i parked our car in a safe area. we proceeded carefully to the car since there was no crosswalk. i can tell they were immigrants because their lack of english and they were nervous as hell. we pushed their car near ours said our goodbyes and proceeded to our car. then another car pulled up behind us and an older gentleman approached and there were pleasant exchanges. he then unexpectedly pulled out his wallet and handed us some 20's for being good samaritans. i declined for myself but i let my nephew make his own decision. he looked reluctant but did turned down the generous offer.
on our way home my nephew asked why we couldnt accept the money. he felt it was a reward for doing a good deed. i gave him the obviously reply. what i remember most about that day wasnt our good deed or the monetary reward. because i was wearing a hoodie with a baseball cap and being with my nephew the older man refered to us as,"You young kids did a good thing today." that comment made me smile more so than the money offer
