i think the real tragedy is that we uphold the royals to such an extent that any of this happened.
kate is a human and so is everyone else in that family and i think it's insane that the dj's were punished. what the heck, we do stuff like that here all the time.
it happens on live tv even.
i'm sorry that you all have royalty and you all admire them to such an extent that you don't see how crazy it is that you think what happened is so wrong.
i don't care about kate's breasts or her baby. i really don't.
maybe the english will wake up and stop making everyone bow to these people.
at least kim kardashian makes efforts for all her attention. these people do nothing.
i'm sad the nurse died for such a trivial thing.
it's the dj's job to be funny and get ratings.
they should not be fired.
they didn't ask what color was kate's pubic hairs!
they asked about her condition. what they did wasn't a crime!

here is the sad thing, instead of kate or anyone in that family trying to let the public know what happened wasn't such a travesty, they'll continue to make themselves even more sacred.

you'd think they'd learn from the death of princess diana.

Yep, medical professionals here just blab peoples private info all over the place without any repercussions what so ever

Too a point.
Was that sarcasm directed at me?

I can only assume, as others have said, that this woman had other stuff going on in her life and this was the last straw. I don't know about the worldwide humiliation angle as who would have known who it was that had answered the call and put it through? I never heard anyone's name mentioned until she died. There would no doubt been consequences from the hospital re confidentiality and all that (I'm a nurse - it can be really difficult sometimes) but who can honestly say they would have denied the Queen information if they truly thought that was who they were talking to? It's a hospital where the hoi-polloi go, I'm sure they get phone calls from the "gentry" all the time, how do they know who they're talking to? And very little info was actually given out, nothing earth-shattering. Prince Charles even made a joke of it (before the death obviously).
It just seems a sad but gross over-reaction to something that would soon have been yesterday's news.
And I'm in no way condoning what the dj's did, they shouldn't have been intruding on someone's privacy like that.
Yes, even without the suicide, those DJs and all the higher ups who approved that prank (bc I'm sure that stunt went through their legal department, and it wasn't aired live) should suffer consequences for invading a person's privacy in that matter. We're talking about a patient in a hospital. That's even more messed up than usual.

ITA. I feel bad for the DJs. They must feel horrible.

ETA - wow, not the radio station ..personally I don't think the prank to the hospital was out of line but the one mentioned in this article about the 14 year old girl is absolutely horrendous-

http://www.cnn.com/2012/12/09/opinio...html?hpt=hp_t1

Also, it was their decision to air the prank live(not the djs). Supposedly they tried to get in touch with the hospital but couldnt(I think they are supposed to get permission before airing them?) and went ahead and broadcast it anyways.

When it comes to the station, this will hopefully be karma. And sorry, but I could not work for a station who did these things. The story about the 14 yo girl is horrendous.

You get what you give.

I was out eating yesterday adn the news was on in the resturant. i dont no if i heard correctly, but i think i herad the nurse had recieved death threats after this? is that true? WTH??

I have to agree with frau. people treat the royals like gods. i have herad lots of pranks on the radio, most alot worst then this, and no one recieved death threats. this is just sad news.

The dj's did an interview yesterday (Monday here) which I watched despite myself being a bit fed-up of it all now. They're obviously devastated, especially Mel. Made some interesting comments - it hadn't been their idea specifically, but a "team decision" and had been pre-recorded and ok'd by management. Also, as someone else said, they had tried to contact the hospital to get their permission before it went to air.
There were also comments from other presenters here (from that network as well as others) about the pressure put on them to do such things and other tasteless stunts, it seems to be just the nature of the beast (not my idea of entertainment, but it's obviously somebodies, else they wouldn't keep doing it).
The more I hear the more I feel sorry for the presenters, so many other stunts pulled over the years with no consequences and these were the ones for whom the sh*t hit the fan.

The other story in that CNN report was just horrendous but that dj is well known for being an up-himself d**ckhead. Still around though and does TV too these days.

Yes, I volunteered at the suicide hotline for several years. It wasn't my job to make sense of their suicidal thoughts or relate to them or connect the dots (which went nowhere bc THEY WERE MENTALLY ILL).

My job was to answer the phone from 7pm to 7am (when probably you and most other ppl here were at home, asleep), de-escalate the person, and get them to the mental health crisis center before they killed themself.

I wonder if she had been white, they would feel the need to keep pointing out that they are a wonderful Catholic family, just sayin.

Actually sorry, I know they wouldn't, I just find it amusing/annoying.

I read some British singer is blaming Kate for the nurses death because she was in the hospital for "no reason".

I'm glad you can see that. My compassion doesn't start and end w/ empty words; I actually do things to help.
