So... does mango taste a little fishy to anyone else?
I just made myself a mango smoothie with my sister's homemade kefir. I've had the kefir before so I know it's not that. It tasted fishy to me. I kept telling myself I was insane. Finally I did a Google search and apparently mango tastes fishy to many people.
Does mango taste fishy to anyone else? Any food that tastes like another unpleasant food to you?

Mango doesn't taste fishy to me, but I loathe the smell and taste of cilantro. I don't know for sure because I've never tasted them, but to me it tastes like feet.

This area is under construction as my hair type changed and nothing works well for me. I shampoo, I condition and pretty much have done nothing but chuck my hair in a messy bun for the past oh...year? Yeah, I'm that lazy.
No...going no-poo or CG does not work for me. It leaves me overconditioned and oily in a second no matter what I use, so that's not what's not working.

For the love of all things holy, step away from the mango and let those of us who lust after it have your share

Can't say as I've ever had a fishy tasting mango tho I've only ever had one type so maybe others taste different?
I adore mango and wish I could find good ones around here more often.

Lol. Don't know why it would! No. It was just frozen mango.
Look. Here's a cooking board thread from 2001 where someone else thinks their frozen mango tasted fishy.
http://community.cookinglight.com/archive/index.php/t-7191.html
And another one from a different message board.

I feel comforted that at least I'm not the only one in cyberspace that thinks so.

Frozen as in the freezer with something that has a fishy smell that was absorbed by the mango perhaps?
Fresh mango or forget it!

I have had mango that tasted fishy. And cilantro tastes like soap to me unless it is cooked in a dish.

I don't care for the smell of mango. I'd leave the kitchen anytime someone in my family started eating one.
What is the connection to cilantro? I like cilantro just fine.

I've never had frozen mango so I can't say what it tastes like. I think I had canned mango once and it wasn't fishy.

the chemical composition of cilantro can be very... floral for lack of a better term. for some it can come off as tasting like soap. scienctist actually is during research to determine why. one idea is that its got to do with our genetics. certain parts of the world use loads of cilantro while others use none. so you may be prediposed to hate the stuff and get the soapy taste.
cilantro taste like soap to me, but a little of it in the right dish, taste yummy to me.

Do not sully the name of the beloved almighty mango!!!!!
lol. I LOVE mangoes! No fishy taste here. Perhaps it absorbed the smell of frozen fish either in your freezer or at the store or in transit?
