I am SO nervous...(work related)

As I have mentioned before, I got the job I have now through a temp. agency. I love my job and the employees here love me. I hear it all the time and one of the employees who was here for a while in the office waiting on my boss actually bought me a gift and gave me a card thanking me for my patience and my hard work to help her with her situation. My boss read the card, which noted "the hospital is so lucky to have you!".

Well, my contract via the temp. agency will be up soon - March 6 to be exact. I've gotten a few hidden messages that I'll be staying and that they want to hire me permanent, but nothing in stone. For instance, one of the other directors here in the hospital came in and said she loved me so much and wanted to hire me for HER department. Two of my three bosses heard her say this and told her no way. When the other director asked if they were going to keep me...they smiled and said, "Maybe!!". I was asked to work on a project that will conclude with a banquet the night my contract ends. I was working on a new procedure and I noted how I was having trouble with it. One boss said, "Awww, by this time next year, you'll have it down pat!".

Well, today I was told that our BIG boss would probably start interviewing for my position soon. The person that told me this, one of my other bosses, said I shouldn't worry and that it is just something she HAS to do to show that she did interview.

I'm just nervous. I love it here so much. I have grown to really like all of the people in the hospital and lots of people have even told my big boss how much they like me. I will just be so sad if I don't get the job.
Girl... I have faith that you'll be staying, but I know it's hard not to stress about it till you know for sure.

It sounds like you're doing great and they love you - you go!

Eeeeee!!! That sounds so promising! I'm sure they really like you and want to hire you permanent
Thanks. I'm just so nervous. I really love it here and I'm so nervous. I actually look FORWARD to coming to work each day. I have had only one other job like that before. I am just SO nervous.
Meg, it totally sounds like you have it in the bag. BUT...I understand your nervousness! Hopefully they'll make it permanent here before too long.

And me being the proactive type that I am, if I didn't hear anything by about Feb. 20, I'd make an app't with the boss. And in that app't I'd say something like, "I really love working here and I feel I'm doing a very good job based on the feedback from Name, Name, and Name. And as you know, my contract will end March 6. I'd like the opportunity to become a permanent full-time employee. Do you think that's possible?"

GOOD LUCK!!!

It's entirely likely that they are required to open a job posting and do the whole interview process. But since you're already there and doing a great job, you have a BIG edge. I think you will get it!

They decided to do a hiring freeze at the hospital for a bit and make the directors of departments go talk to the hospital big wigs and plead their case for their open positions. They had my job posted for a while, but not since. That means my boss didn't go plead her case to have my position posted. I guess that's a good sign. But still...it will be weird to see people go in and interview for MY position. I'm tempted to give them "pointers."

"....and she loves it when you tell her how much she and Mr.Magoo look alike...."
Wow...I was pretty much in the exact same situation back in October. I was interning for an org. and someone retired and people started hinting that the executive director wanted me to fill the position. The big boss wanted me, but my immediate boss had to interview others just to keep up appearances I guess. The bottom line is, they know you, they know what you're capable of and they know what to expect. It would be too risky to get someone new...you already know the job! Needless to say, they hired me and I've been there (and finishing grad school) ever since :0)

It'll all work out. Proximity and networking are two major factors when it comes to hiring. Good luck...but you don't need it

How could they not love you? I hope it all works out there.

It definitely sounds like you will have a job there, one way or the other. Sounds like you are a great employee, and they would be lucky to hire you!! GOOD LUCK!!
Thanks for all of your support!! I actually just got another "hidden message e-mail". My BIG boss sent me a copy on a message to all directors about a Leadership Training seminar featuring an HR bigwig that is to occur in April. Maybe I'm overthinking but I saw that as a good sign.

Yay, Meg! Continued good vibes, though, 'til you hear FOR SURE.
