You know, I see one every once in a while... But for the most part, they definitely don't advertise Coke on tv as much as they used to! Now that I think of it, I haven't seen a Christmas/holidays one this year.

It's actually supposed to be Smokey Bear but kids continuously threw in "the" so it was adopted. Sadly, the forest service was forced to do away with much advertising due to extreme and worsening budget cuts. They do still have a few ad's, billboards, and produce coloring books.

My local FS branch used to have one forest service member put on a costume and be Smokey The Bear. He spoke to children at every school, every year, and did receive extra pay for this service. The funding was cut, but someone still does it, for the kiddo's.

I remember McGruff well, and Woodsy the Wood Owl... "give a hoot, don't pollute!"

Silly Rabbit Tricks are for kids!

A lot of these ran during Saturday mornng cartoons...which most stations don't do anymore. I'm not sure why...I remember watching cartoons from 7:00 in the morning to at least 10:00...no news or anything.

I guess Saturday morning cartoons went away because we have whole stations dedicated to the toons. I loved, loved Saturday mornings!

At this time of year they always air the Folgers commercial where the guy comes home for the holidays ("It's a long way from Africa.") and his sister is awake in the kitchen waiting for him *removes bow from package* - "You're my present this year." SOB!!!
