Hysterectomy scheduled
Went to dr with all my symptoms today. Thankfully he gave me pain meds and told me to up my norethindrone from 2 to 3 per day. When it's time to take out NuvaRing dr says to not put another one in...the norethindrone should stop or atleast taper the bleeding so I don't die. They're taking uterus..and cervix. I will still have 2 tubes and an ovary left so I should be good. Any words of wisdom or encouragement would be great. I'm just gonna worry till 01/14/13. But atleast then it'll all be over!!

If at all possible, I would suggest having it done w/ the DiVinci robot. One day recovery!
Hystersisters.com is a great resource.
It seems most women are very happy w/ their outcomes.
Best wishes!

You're going to feel so much better! The surgery is much easier than you believe but it's normal to be nervous.
I also recommend you visit hystersisters.com. I was in the hospital 23 hrs, had mine in 08.
Don't worry, just focus on how much better you will feel!

Yes...I'm on HysterSisters. Between them and this place it's how I got thru this.lol
It's so nice to have a support system.
As far as Divinci...I can ask..the idea of a robot kinda creeps me out tho. I trust my dr..and even tho last surgery was way less and only a week recovery, my experience at this hospital was good..they were nice and thorough and made me relax which is hard to do.
I'm relieved a bit to have a clear end date. I have a good friend who went thru this and she is happy now. No periods.. Her sex drive is still there...sex is still good she feels like herself again. I'll have friends to do my grocery shopping. Which I think is all I'll need. I'm gonna get microwave stuff cause I know I won't wanna cook. I'm even getting my hair cut Friday...in anticipation of how much I'm not gonna feel like detangling long curls every day.
Oh...and I have been bloated and in pain...where it feels like I'll feel better after I poop...but when I do it still hurts. Dr said fibroids pressing on rectum making me feel like I gotta go all the time.

I know last surgery I laid on my couch and was so thankful to have this site to keep my mind off it. All my friends and family called and texted too. I had a nice little set up here on my couch. My ext chord next to the couch my kindle iPod iPhone my bottled water and my shortbread cookies..which is all I wanted to eat.
Technology can be wonderful! I wasn't alone at all.
Oh...another question. Can I possibly gain weight after this? Cause people have been saying I'm looking skinny...and I want some of my curves back. I figure it may be the stress of the sitch causing this.

Good luck! I don't have any personal experience but everybody I know who has had one has been extremely happy with the results. They were in so much pain and had so many issue prior, that it was a relief to feel normal.

My hair will be healthier too. Haven't been for a cut since last year I think. Gonna cut off all the damage and stop being so length obsessed. Try out shorter hair for a while

One of my cousins had a hysterectomy last year because of fibroids and endometriosis, but the took her ovaries too. You'll be fine. I lost an ovary and tube about 15 years ago but I'm fine too, no hormone problems. I'll be thinking about you!

Good luck! My mom felt so much better after she had her hysterectomy. And her migraines stopped too!

Thanks guys. I am a bit nervous but kind of excited. Considering the date is relatively close and knowing this will all be over then. My friends and the few family members I have left are very supportive. I already got some visitors lined up for the hospital.
No more spotting, no more accidents, no more not being able to sleep thru then night during that time of the month because I'll make a mess. No more hormones and no more birth control. I'm excited.

I'm so jealous. I wish my doctor would agree to give me a hysterectomy because I am done and over with all my reproductive organs. I don't want kids of my own ever, so it's not like I'm going to need it. Cysts bursting on my ovary and a past hemorrhaging experience are awful and constant ovary pain is frustrating and sometimes debilitating.
Good luck! I hope it all goes well!

This area is under construction as my hair type changed and nothing works well for me. I shampoo, I condition and pretty much have done nothing but chuck my hair in a messy bun for the past oh...year? Yeah, I'm that lazy.
No...going no-poo or CG does not work for me. It leaves me overconditioned and oily in a second no matter what I use, so that's not what's not working.

Plan to give yourself a big treat afterward!
Normal to be nervous, but as the other posters said, everyone I know who did it was very satisfied with the result. Good luck and keep in touch with us!

Lol....I will so keep in touch. I'm essentially gonna be home, on my couch for over a month with not much energy or strength to do anything but watch tv..and browse the Internet on my phone..and read some on kindle. Last surgery this site, HysterSisters , Facebook and eBay...kept me sane. All my people texted me and I was on here, either worrying abt what was next or distracting myself with hair tips. Lol
I'm thinking when all this is over...it'll be abt tax refund time. I think I may get an iPad mini as my present.

I've gone to about 3 doctors and they all say they won't do it "in case." I don't have kids but have no desire to have my own, I'm completely happy being single or if I get married and he has kids then that's awesome. That's why they're refusing "just in case" I change my mind about kids. I've never wanted them and tell them that, but they still won't.
