Default question to the universe

okay, this is hair related, but it's also just a general life question ...

why ... why oh why ... why in the heck does my hair look like crappiola many days (especially in winter) when i spend time trying to get it to look decent, but then the one night i just say 'to heck with it' and throw it up half-damp into a ponytail for a night of dancing - and i take it down at the end of the night and it looks like the most gorgeous, 40's big round fat wavy curls glamour girl 'do?

right before i am going to bed!? why??!!!

It's along the same principle as cars breaking down. They can "sense" when you have a little extra money or are planning a vacation and they break.

Hair can "sense" when you need to look good and they do the opposite.

That happened to me earlier this week. The one day that I had no where to go and my hair looked GORGEOUS. *sigh*

*grumbles*

The same reason why just when I find some great new product that works wonders on my hair, face or body part...it is abruptly discontinued. Then I have to do a desperate search on ebay to stock up.

It happens all the time.
It's quite maddening.
I bet Peppy is somehow behind all of this.

Christmas day I had straightened my hair becasue it was really cold out and just didn't want to risk it freezing while running around. So that night everyone comes over for dinner, then we use the hot tub and I just throw it back in a clip and sort of pin it up. It starts snowing, lots of steam coming up from the hot tub, no product in my hair, we can all see the big frizzy mess coming along!

So I get out, go get changed and take my hair down and I have the most beautiful big loopy soft ringlets I have ever seen in my life......think I could ever reenact those conditions

Some rainy days I am running errands and get rained on repeatedly and it makes my hair look amazing. Other times rain makes my hair go poof. I can not explain it!

I'm getting ready to whack all of mine off tomorrow, and I mean extremely short.

I'm sure that when I get up tomorrow morning, it'll have never looked better

Then, when I'm feeling my most beat-up and tired, wearily trying to get to the grocery store with my hair in a baggy, frizzy bun, guys from every corner of the woodwork will be honking, gawking and trying to give me their number

I can also conjure up rain and humid conditions at will by straightening my hair.

My hair always looks best at 3 am when no one but the baby (and the dog, should he bother to roll over and have a look) can see me. Always. I will change her diaper (the kid, not the dog) and go to wash my hands and DAMN! Suddenly I have Amazing Wonder Hair.

I say consider yourself lucky if you've had a good hair day at any time of the day this winter. I've forgotten what it's like to have a good hair day.
