I think they are not the most current trend HOWEVER I would wear them because I wear what I like and don't care too much what other people think. It's not that I think I have great fashion sense; it's that I don't take fashion that seriously. I like things that are flattering but not necessarily trendy.
The nc.com fashion police will chime in any moment and help you out

Yes, but they are not horrible, you could still wear them if you had to. Well I do. I have some old ones that color that I wear from time to time. Definitely not when I'm trying to look nice though.

I dont understand what is or isnt in style about them.
Is it the faded wash on the front?
I like style but im not a slave to fashion.

Also, they seem fairly high waisted (the fly looks really long). Low waisted is dated, but high waisted seems old fogey...in between is most current. Also, they seem way too short in that photo. They should almost skim the ground at the back if they're the right (modern) length.

Well yea that too..they look like mom jeans...but I know some people wear em anyways. The same jeans in the darker wash look acceptable.

I think the mom-jeans style coupled with the color make them look dated. If you're set on that style, I'd recommend getting a darker wash. If you like the lighter color, go with a more current style.

Thet dont seem high waisted to me. But I have such a short waist everything is high waisted on me.
The color is a little light and they seem short to me, but like the rise, I assumed that was the model.

Thanks for your opinions and suggestions! Do you have any recommendations for modern straight leg jeans?

It really depends on your body type. I don't think anyone can really rec jeans...you just gotta try them on.
Right now, I'm wearing a straight legged pair of Joe's jeans. Love them! Normally, I don't spend this much on jeans but I was really, really feeling them that day.
Gap has nice straight legged jeans but they rarely look good on me...just on everyone else.

My routine:
Cleansing: DCNP, every 4-5 days (occasionally use CJ cleansers).
RO: CJSC, occasionally use JCDC

Heat is my friend: warm water rinses, steam caps, and diffuse dry. I love CLU cloths and my Denman.

I looked at the Kohl's website so I could stay in the same price range. There were some Levis Curve ID jeans with a lower rise and medium wash that looked cute. Macy's has some Ralph Lauren jeans with a low rise and different washes that were in the same price range.
