I'm due for an upgrade in about 2 weeks, and I'd really like an iPhone. I'm having a really hard time deciding between a 5 and 4s, though.

The main thing holding me back is price- I would like 32g because I have a lot of music, and it'd be $150 for the 4s vs $300 for the 5. Other than that, though, is there a huge difference? Should I just get a 4s?

The 5 is faster and the screen is bigger but otherwise it's not that different. My husband has a 4S and I was perfectly willing to let him have my 5 and I would take his 4S. However, I have an iPad so I don't use my phone for as much as a lot of other people do. If you think you'll use it for the internet a lot, get the 5. While the 4S is great now, who knows how slow it will seem two years from now.

The one thing that bugs the crap out of me is that the 5 uses a different cable than my ipod and my old phone. Only having one cable that I have to remember to take with me is a pain.

Yeah, I agree with what mrspoppers said. There's nothing remarkably different in my opinion. But I upgraded to the 5 from an old, decrepit LG that could barely make phone calls anymore, so I can't totally compare the two. But my sister has the 4S, and I've played around with it a bit.

I will add that the 5 is much lighter and all around less bulky. Which is nice, but honestly, I could have lived with a cheaper, slightly heavier phone. Once you have a case on it, it's not that big of a difference anyhow...

The main difference is speed. If I were you I'd get the 5. Most likely you're going to keep the phone as long as you can, so why get the older model?

This was the biggy for me in sticking with the 4. I have two iHomes, car kit and chargers in almost all my bags/purses, plus most of my friends & family have iPhone's so charging is never an issue.
