What is BB cream?

I didn't like Dr jart. Made me break out. I use the Garnier one on non work days, I don't love it but don't hate it either. I have really dry skin and the Garnier one without moisturizer works out okay if I put it on and let in soak in. I am open to trying others, and am certain I will, the product junkie that I am.

I use Too Faced BB. I like it. It gives my skin a soft glow. It is just SPF 10 or 15 so I use a separate SPF 30 under it. I also sometimes just mix it with my SPF 30 if I'm in a hurry which would be most mornings. I'm too make-up challenged to use foundation.

I use the Garnier in the light/medium shade. I also have the dark shade that I put on as a bronzer look. I use this instead of foundation or my mineral powder now. I use it at night when my SO stays over. I'm sure there are some better ones out there, but Garnier is inexpensive and I can pick it up anytime at the drugstore.

Not BB, but I love using the "air brushed legs" product on my face and neck. It gives me a tanned look and I can use it without make-up.
Interesting! I bet it does give a good, tanned look and a bit of coverage. It doesn't break you out or anything? I'd be afraid it might not be non-comedogenic, not being formulated for the face.

I haven't had a problem with it, but I rarely break out anyway.
I have a couple of different brands. I don't like makeup of any kind but I thought this would feel more like a moisturizer. It feels like regular ole makeup to me so I don't use it. I use regular sunscreen and lip gloss and that's it and my pores thank me for it.

i didn't know what bb creams were either. right now i'm in such a good place with my colorescience chocolate mouse primer and meow cosmetics foundation i'm too scared to change a thing! i started blending meow shades for the subtle changes my skin makes through the seasons and i started adding a little tumeric grains for anti-inflammatory benefits and to bring out the yellow undertones in my skin. ironically mac concealers still are working great for me but i need them far less now. i'm in skin coverage nirvana....but at least i learned something about bb creams

Glorified tinted moisturizer. I'd skip it unless you like tinted moisturizers (bb creams tend to have just a *touch* more coverage). Also most of them, especially the Asian ones, not sure about drugstore ones, have a limited shade range, that are mostly warm toned and some are even a tinge grayish. If you're like me though, and most TMs here are too link/orange, they can be a great option.
2a/b
medium/thick
high porosity (from coloring)

Shampoo: Mop Top Gentle Shampoo
Co-wash: Chistophe Robin Lemon Cleansing Cream
RO: CJ strengthening, Kenra moisturizing
LI: Jessicurl Aloeba
DT: CJ rehab, Christophe Robin Prickly Pear Mask
PT: SS protein treatment, Ouidad 12 minute
Stylers: Jessicurl RR, SS Firm Hold Gel
Oils: caudalie, sweet almond
i saw the mac line of bb creams tonight. i'll for sure pass. they looked really rich and like a breakout waiting to happen (for me). i'd love to go foundation-less. i'm getting there but bb creams aren't the answer for me.

I hate all tinted moisturizers I've ever tried. For one thing, they're always too pink. But then they all just sit on top of my skin and look greasy. The gold Dr Jart's doesn't do any of that on me. Definitely limited in color, though, if all versions are that same shade.

Luvmylocs, excellent idea about the tumeric with Meow! I can't use it in winter because my seborrheic dermatitis acts up too frequently for it to look good, but I'll definitely try that this summer.

Do you just add a pinch to what you're using that day, or mix some in the entire container?

btw, i can't take credit for the idea. the beautiful thandie newton shared this secret from her mother in a beauty mag i read.

I like the idea of the tumeric. I have yellow undertones in my skin too.
Yeah, and with roseacea, I can definitely use its anti-inflammatory properties.

Great to know you can just mix it up and it'll be OK.

Thanks, luvmylocs!

I've never heard of BB Creams, but I used to have a tinted moisturizer I loved which was no longer manufactured.... I might look into these. I'm not one to apply makeup typically, other than perhaps some eye shadow, which is why I loved tinted moisturizers...

a waste of money!

they don't have enough sunscreen and at this age, i need way more coverage than they give to my skin. i'll stick with sunscreen/moisturizer and foundation separately.

eta. also too dark and pink for my very fair skin. Who, i tried a sample of the Garnier and found it chalky; how are you finding it?

the L'Oreal Youth Code BB was better for me, but still not enough coverage...

I discovered Olay Tone Rehab a few weeks and I'm loving it. It's a foundation/serum that also is supposed to be good for your skin and it really evens up my skin tone and lightens up the one dark spot I have on my lower left cheek (which I hate!)

So 2 thumbs up for Tone Rehab!
I've heard from friends that the BB creams in Asia, where the rage started, are far superior to the ones you can get here. BBs available there seem more like tinted skin treatments, while here they're more like tinted moisturizers.

My Korean friend swears by the Missha Perfect Cover. If only the color range wasn't so limited.

Dr. Jarts is Asian . . . .

I used the last of the same tube I've been using by itself today with just some plain mineral powder on top of it - no concealer or foundation. My brown spots and a couple of my broken capillaries show thru slightly more than usual, but I don't think anyone other than me would notice.

Definitely will be doing that most of the time on typical days when I'm just here in the office with the same few people as always. I've had less oiliness than usual, requiring no blotting or additional powder.

Now, I'll definitely be repurchasing unless I find I like one of the other formulations even better when I try each of them.

ETA: I forgot to say that I just slapped it on this morning in the car, in the full dark, with just a bit of reflection from my headlights as I was sitting in front of my friend's house - Much faster than usual, LOL!
