Scandal!!! (SPOILERS)

I think it was the First Lady. That scene in the limo she didn't want to get out, like she ha second thoughts and didn't want to follow through.
Under Construction
I am going to call this right now. There are more than two men in love with Olivia Pope. At first I did not understand that look Harrison was giving old Edison when he first came to the office to ask for help w/ Liv, until that scene where Harrison holds Liv's hand.

Harrison looked at old Edison like he was the embodiment of a weak a*$ man, the type that cannot live up to being a true partner for a women like Liv. Anything Liv asks Harrison to do, he does, no questions asked. It will be interesting to see if Shonda develops this.

CocoT

I was thinking that as well. Harrison got a thang for Olivia. The way they looked at each other...yo. That was kind of intense. Maybe I'm reading too far into it though. It could be nothing.

But I just thought of something. Didn't he and Quinn have a close relationship as well? You think that could complicate things between him and Olivia (potentially)?
I don't think Harrison and Quinn are that close. He was more of a mentor to her in the beginning and tbh she just does not have that unshakeable loyalty to Liv. She is definitely not as ride or die as Harrison. She asks too many questions, like a petulant child instead of just going with the program.

Also, I watched a SAG clip of the cast and Short says that the writing is so precise that subtle nonverbal looks between characters is intentional. Harrison has never shared one of those looks with Quinn.

I can't either since he worked so hard to get him there and to keep him there. The VP hiding her evil behind her religion makes me want to smack her in the throat.

When the First Lady was giving birth and he stood there for a moment when she reached out to him I thought "If that douche bag doesn't get his ass over there I'm going to hit the TV." Inducing birth certainly was a heck of a trick to pull out of her sleeve. I'm trying to remember the back story of the other births they mentioned, did she lose two?[/QUOTE]

No, they have two other children. They're just conveniently away at boarding school.

I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.
This episode was really good. One powerful moment in this episode was when she was laying in bed,Edison walks in and trys to touch Olivia, but she snatches her body away so abrupt and strong- I felt that. That was real cold, Olivia. Lol

@cocodej, I agree with you about Harrison. This episode solidified that theory for me because I've been thinking that for a little while now. But I don't know if I would be able to handle them being together or "take it there." The intensity already overwhelms me.lol. Plus, it is already too messy. Olivia is in a very vulnerable place, moreso than she's ever really been in before. Harrison doesnt know about her affair with the President. It's just too much.

And I think you're right about Quinn. I just have a strange feeling.

I find Mellie to be very ruthless. Someone who would fake having a miscarriage just to score some voting points is one scary person. I wouldn't put it past her to have something to do with the assassination. But I am not sure what she would have to gain by killing him.

I think Mellie would have lots to gain and right now she is hypersensitive (compound that w/ Fitz still dreaming of Olivia in his sleep!!!), so a ruthless decision like that is not too far field. If Fitz were to be assassinated, she could build her own political platform on how she survived being the grieving pregnant First Lady of a great POTUS who accomplished a great deal during such a short tenure in office (Dream Act, successful non-military intervention, etc...). Having a celebrated former president as a spouse is much better than having one run out of office because of adultery or election rigging.

All in all, I hope it is not her. I want to believe that she is good deeeeeeeep down inside. I mean, she did mention building Fitz up from the emotional wreck that his father left him...

I don't think it's Mellie. She has nothing to gain. The same goes for Cyrus.

Fitzgerald annoys me. He has that pretty but dumb look and is so unsure of himself. He is also very selfish and naive. You can't het a divorce as president; there goes your re-election. Smh

Mellie is ruthless and is a great strategist. I never caught the bit of Mellie having an affair. Is that why fitzgerald thinks it is ok to flaunt his affair with Olivia? I do think he cares for her but he reminds me of an irresponsible, dumb teenager. What Olivia sees in him besides the physical, I have no idea.

I really don't think it could have been Millie. She's the first lady. If the President dies, the VP takes over and she's out of the white house. Millie wouldn't let that happen. That's why she was so pressed to get Fitz to wake up and she forged his signature. She didn't want him to die because of what would happen to her.

I don't think Fitz wants another term, hence the divorce thing. He wants to be with Olivia (doesn't care about being prez anymore if it means he can't be with her).

Millie...I wanted to smack her in the face. She's so manipulative.

Ok. Now, who hired the gun to kill Fitz? I want to know. I can't figure it out. I don't think it is far fetched that it was Millie. She certainly was acting VERY suspicious on that night. And I agree with cocodej's theory regarding what she stands to gain if she was widowed in such a brutal way. A Millie whose strong, powerful hubby is gunned down pulls more sympathy than a Millie whose hubby left her--she looks unloveable I guess.

I'm surprised many of you missed the fact that they already have 2 kids. They mentioned them on occasion in the last two seasons!
I just read that the character of Mellie has been added as one of the main full time characters; therefore, I don't think she was behind the shooting. I think it has to be someone dispensable to the program. I am still going with the VP. When she was Acting President, she was too willing to give up the supreme court nomination (which was the most important thing to her) to catch the shooter. I think she knew the name she would be given was going to be Huck because she helped set him up. She thought they would arrest him and think it was all solved and not look any further. Just my take on the story. Of course, a Hollywood writer I'm not.

Whoever did it has some connection to what's his face who orchestrated the bombing where Quinn worked because it's the same woman from all of that.

Huck going to see her in prison and getting that info seemed so far fetched to me, that woman is way too hard to fall for that.

Sorry I can't remember names, might make what I typed actually make sense.

Omg, all of every single moment of this episode.

I had a feeling Fitz was going to kill Verna as soon as she started threatening to tell the DA. I didn't think he had it in him but it seemed like they were setting it up that way. Then when he went to walked away I thought I had been wrong.. but nope! I think part of it was that he was so hurt that everyone including, and most importantly, the love of his life had lied to and betrayed him. The look one his face when he realized what Olivia had been a part of it ....wow. I don't think his legacy was that big of a factor until he learned the truth about the election because before he was all kinds if ready to give that up for her. Do you all see Fitz as one of the bad guys now? I mean, Verna tried to kill him first, she just failed.

Cyrus....good lord. Does that man have any decency? Was he really about to let that man kill his own husband? I mean, yeah he backed out but at the LAST SECOND. Ughh the anxiety I had during that scene.

I felt so sorry for Abby! She had a chane at love with David who at this point seems like the only "white hat" on the entire show! I'm going to need some awesome backstory on why the gladiators are so loyal to Olivia Pope...I mean they have risked everything for her at this point. I need to know why she is willing to do everything she's done just to be a gladiator.

Poor David...get always gets the short end of everything. Will the right side of the law ever win? He needs to get smarter or learn how to play the political game without compromising his ethics. (Maybe the pint is that in politics that's rarely possible???)

Mellie...I guess she'll be on cloud nine during the next episode. That scene where she calls the nurse to get the baby right after the reporters leave....smh, classic Mellie! I wonder if now that Fitz is a murderer will the writers make them into a political scheming power couple?

I also wonder how long the writers will keep Olitz apart....I think that the subtle body language and conversations between Olivia and Harrison may let them open that door without it seeming out in left field. On the other hand I think the previews had her being asked out by someone else so who knows....

I know I'm forgetting stuff but I'm getting sleepy!

Can't wait to read what you all think! I love different perspectives :-)
My goodness! This episode had me on the edge of my seat!! I don't see Fitz as a bad guy.. Even though I KNEW he was gonna kill Verna. It was very classy of him to still have so much wonderful things to say about her for the eulogy.

I feel bad for Liv because she gave up a promised "happy ending" with Edison & she keeps turning him down for Fitz. & for Fitz to just do that to her..

Also, I don't feel that Fitz was being very honest with Mellie about all that he said at the end of the episode because he knew that she was involved too! So I think he's gonna get back at her in some way..

As for Cyrus. I lost so much love for him because Charlie (I think his name is) was seconds away from killing his husband! It's scary that your quest for power is more important than your husband. I mean, HE STILL COVERED FOR CY! That's how much he loved him!! He wouldn't even know that if he had went through with the whole taking-his-husbands-life thing. Ugh!! I almost died at that part though.

The loyalty that Harrison, Abby, Huck have for Liv is REAL! Makes you wonder how screwed were their lives before she stepped in. Like it had to be REALLY screwed up because whatever she needs, they do it. No questions asked. Harrison especially!! (I love him by the way.)

One last thing before I get off this: Verna's still going to hell. IDC IDC IDC IDC!
