Hair Type Forum Consolidation
Do you feel the hair type forum should be consolidated and do away with the sub-categories?

I'm cool with having 2,3,and 4, but without the subtypes the way the 2 board is right now.

Yep, consolidate. I think other categories could be consolidated too. We have way too many forums to wade through now.

Yes, there are too many forums. The search function works. We don't need a forum for every tiny detail. Do the work and search.

Yes, consolidate. So, we'll have more concentrated information in one place...

Agreed. Besides, a lot of people have more than one subtype in their hair anyway.

Cosign.
Also, get rid of most of of the different hair subforums. What's the point of having color and product reviews and porosity and protein subcategories when people still post about those topics on general hair? The all natural hair care and recipes subforums can be combined.

Consolidate.
I also think that at least the Non-hir, Politics, Recipes, Books and Fitness, should be consolidated.

Politics was kept separate for a reason - to cut down in fights in non-hair.
Most of the hair sub forums don't seem necessary. The same questions get asked in general hair. If one takes the time to use the search function, lots of info is out there.

I like some of the sub forums in non-hair. I don't know too much about recipies and books, but the others, I see a good reason to keep.
Politics is to keep fighting down. Parenting is nice because you're more likely get a response from from other parents. I like fitness and make-up because non-hair is busy and topics can get quickly buried and forgotten, so you get more time on the first page. The smaller forums make it easier to search. Since most of the topics are on products, necro'ing a old thread doesn't feel weird unless they're trying to advice the OP who asked a question 5 years ago. And threads don't get derailed as much, if any. I don't mind derails, but it's nice to have a place to ask about let's say lipstick without it being turned into a conversation about uncrustables.
I've always thought it would be cool if there was a fitness swap where you could trade videos with others.

I do understand what you are saying.
I still feel that we have too many boards.
Speaking just for me: I m interested in books, I m interested in recipes, I m very interested in politics. But I never go to sub-forums to read about those topics.
The 'Say it...' thread is like that. Everything in one. But then, there are other Say it threads...
I understand. It was just my opinion.
I think I don t have the discipline to open all those forums, I ll have to work on that. It was just a suggestion.
BTW I think P&P is very well to be separated. As well as the 40's forum, which is inserted into hair forums, but the talk is about everything.

I'd like consolidation, but with stickied threads for common subtopics. I've seen other forums use this format, and I think it works really well. The OP of each sticky is a FAQ that's updated as people post advice in the thread. This will reduce the problem of redundant threads, which are annoying to answer, and make comprehensive information difficult to piece together. Plus, ongoing, stickied threads encourage conversation and collaboration, which is a lot more fun than dry questions and answers.
So, a board for hairtype 2 might have stickies for 2a, 2b, and 2c. A board for No/Low Poo might have a stickies about getting started and which products are "safe." Whatever the questions are that people ask over and over again.
Thinking about what boards we should have, IMO we need boards for hairtypes and for ingredient concerns: 2, 3, & 4, no/low poo, protein free, and natural ingredients (including recipes). Other topics that may need their own boards are dye, straightening, and health issues affecting hair or scalp. And weren't the Over 40s and Pregnancy boards pretty popular?
The last time there was a poll about which boards we should have, I was one of the people who voted for adding way more of them I WAS WRONG.
