Definitely.
Of course, being that you are going to find many more Introverts than Extroverts who frequent message boards like these, it's not surprisng that you'd find many who feel the same way!

I know this is off topic, but I'm listening to Quiet: The Power of Introverts by Susan Cain right now, and it's an AWESOME book! Very informative... I'm finally starting to feel "normal." I'd highly recommend it!

Weirdly, I'm not at all an introvert. I'm very talky and social. But it has to be on my terms. And my terms are very fussy. : )

i'm very extroverted. But i have to feel you out first. if i get good vibes, i will be comfortable and very... me. if i'm not, i will be very quiete and uncomfortable.
sometimes i'm just not in the mood to have to feel people out.

Me too... sometimes. I love parties, weddings, happy hours, etc ....again sometimes.
Again, me too.
But I'm still an "I" on the Meyers-Briggs scale. INFP to be exact.
An "I" aka "introvert" isn't necessarily a wallflower or a hermit--just somebody who is comfortable being alone and needs "alone time" to recharge.

I just downloaded this book today, thanks for recommending it! I have just started reading, but am enjoying it so far! This subject is so fascinating to me, I know I'm going to fly through this book.

^ Duh, I guess I never knew the correct meaning of introvert. I always considered an introvert as someone painfully shy, which I am not. I could easily be a hermit tho. I LOVE being alone.

I'm a big fan of the book, The Introvert Advantage. After reading it I felt much more "normal" in some of my habits. It goes into explaining how introverts need the alone time as much as extroverts need people around, brain pathways etc.
(Also covers the definition of introverts, common misperceptions, etc)

I'm an INFP, too! And I completely agree with the rest of this post - my mom has called me a social butterfly, and for good reason, but I am definitely an introvert. And thelio, seems to me you just basically described introversion in your description of yourself as an extrovert, lol.
Introvert does not = shy. My brother is an extrovert who can be shy sometimes, like before he warms to a party, and then he's all about being in the middle of things. I am an introvert who's great with people in general and will absolutely be an active participant in the same party but will always end up finding a specific person or small group of people to talk to, not mingling with everyone all over the place. God, just typing the word mingling kinda stresses me out.

I'm an INFP too! I'm more quiet and reserved, although not necessarily shy (ok, maybe a little bit in certain situations). My DH is an extrovert, so at a party he'll be off bouncing around talking to everyone, and I'll settle in somewhere and talk with someone I know. Similar to wild_sasparilla.
Small talk is awkward for me. I never know what to say until after the fact, so I try to just wing it and hope i don't sound weird
