Same thing happened to me, too! I'm in the worst place in our department and always have been, even when we were on the other side of the building.

Luckily, I really like the people that are seated near me and we have a grand time being off in our own little world.

This area is under construction as my hair type changed and nothing works well for me. I shampoo, I condition and pretty much have done nothing but chuck my hair in a messy bun for the past oh...year? Yeah, I'm that lazy.

No...going no-poo or CG does not work for me. It leaves me overconditioned and oily in a second no matter what I use, so that's not what's not working.

I rather have a bad spot with people I get along with than be in my situation. I want to shove my keyboard in my coworkers mouths so I don't have to hear their ignorance

Oh, there's plenty of that...just not with my direct cubicle mates. We're in a very open spot and can mostly hear each other talking. Some people's voices make my hand twitch with the desire to slap them. I've been able to resist...so far.

Today my coworker stated that "all Mexicans look alike... Just look at all the landscapers" -___- I'm a quarter Mexican mind you.

Then she proceeded to get very upset when my other coworker pointed out that Obama is not just a "black man" as she thinks. He's half white and half black, so he IS white too. She got SO upset and started saying "if u r not fully white u can NOT call urself white. Ur just black. Period."

-_____- God, please give me patience

I call bull on that! I'm probably the whitest looking person ever. I have Native American blood in me. Super diluted, but it's there. We haven't done any further searches in ancestry, but I'm sure there are more ethnicities in my family tree. So...what do I call myself? Swedish/Native American/English/Dutch/Danish/Latino/Polish/purple with green polka dots? C'mon now!

Tainted my a$$. If someone pulled that kind of ish daily, I'd put some really greasy lotion or ointment on my hands and leave greasy hand prints all over her desk so it's all "tainted" now because I touched it. Hag. I might also find a trinket of an interracial couple, put a bow on it and glue it to her desk. I do NOT put up with racists.

Believe me, I HATE her. My boss is never here so she doesn't hear these things, and I don't want to start a problem cuz she has seniority. Literally and figuratively lmao. Old bat. I only have to put up with it until August. God I hope I see her on a dark night crossing the street when I'm driving

Chuck paperclips at her? We chuck stuff at each other all day at work. My boss used to have a rubber band shooter he used to randomly shoot people with, but one of the cogs broke. Now we chuck paperclips, dollar store koosh balls, poppers (you know, the kind you turn inside out, put it on a surface and it pops up with a loud noise, scaring the person it pops toward)...dollar store slinkies come into the action sometimes, too.

Oh! You could throw confetti all over her cubicle area when she's not there. She would have no idea who did it and it gets EVERYWHERE and is the biggest pain in the a$$ to clean up.

At one job I had, a person quit and I took over their office. 3 years earlier, they decorated the office for their birthday. They took all the business cards the person had and lined them up over the entire surface of the desk and credenza, then tossed confetti all over the room. They also shrink-wrapped the desk and poured packing peanuts in the opening. I was STILL finding confetti in that office 3 years after "the incident"!

It's usually just me and her there. Only 3 ppl work there at a time, so I can't get away with anything. We don't have cubicles, we just work at one big table

*waking up this thread because I'm going to give myself retinal damage if I roll my eyes any harder*

Even though the pay is low, I actually like my job and my supervisor. As "senior chemist' I'm expected to oversee that all projects are progressing smoothly, to make sure the other chemists are trained, and make sure all of our equipment is properly functioning/maintained.

I'm a hard worker - I'm 3/4-time (but I'm able to get as much work done as a full-timer) and often bring in my own laptop to work on reports and special projects. Often times high priority projects are given to me with a moment's notice, with the expectation to get them done in conjunction with normal day-to-day testing/projects.

But now I'm officially convinced that my supervisor has grown accustomed to my extra efforts and now takes it for granted.

Yesterday he noticed where one of my co-workers left a mess when she got something out of a low cabinet (box shavings, dust and whatnot). He said, "Hmmm... this needs to be swept up...", with a tone that implied that he wanted ME to sweep it up. I said, "The cleaning lady always comes through on today so I'm sure she'll get it." (But I was thinking, "Why don't you tell the one who made the mess to clean it up?!" But he coddles that particular co-worker & that's another 20 minutes of typing.)

When he noticed some dust in a doorway, he said, "There's a swiffer around here, right? Maybe you can clean that out." I don't know if I'm in the wrong, but I replied, "Um, Roger, I'm a chemist. The cleaning lady will be by today." To which he replied, "Oh, yeah, she can get that, huh?"

In this economy I'm glad to have a job, but I'm like, seriously? For real?

Dude, our cleaning people don't even clean. Our floors are the most disgusting things I have ever seen. Like if I drop something, I'm afraid I'm going to contract the plague kind of disgusting. Like, there used to be a pattern, but the floor is so dirty, you think it's just a solid color kind of dirty disgusting. We all take bets on how long our paperclips or a post it is going to stay beneath our desks because our cleaning people are so lazy.

We use to pull Costanza's (Seinfeld when George Constanza would always nap underneath his desk when he had the job at the...ballpark?...I'm so not a Seinfeld freak) at our desks during lunch, but they got too gross to do that anymore. We go take naps out on the lawn now if it's nice enough.

Anywho...Yeah. We learned to pretty much disinfect our desks weekly because the cleaning people cannot be trusted.
