LASIK, anyone? Help!

I had lasik Thursday and my 1 day post op check yesterday. Everything looked and felt good, I see great for being one day out, just my right eye was a little scratched. The dr said to really push my lubricating eye drops in that eye especially & that it should only improve from here. Well right now, my eyes are burning so bad it's woken me up twice. I can't keep them either shut or open for any length of time. I slept better 5 hrs post op than I am tonight. All I can think about is the dr saying it should only get better, never worse. This is definitely worse and idk what to do. I sleep with a shield so I can't imagine I damaged them overnight. It's 5:30 am on a Saturday here, boyfriend went to work at 4am, I surely couldn't drive anywhere & what eye dr would be open anyways?? I just want to claw my eyes out & I can't touch them!

lcl0706, ouch! That sounds awful! Have you tried calling the office number for the doctor who did the lasik to see if there are instructions on their recording on who to call in an emergency? If nothing else, you need to find someone to take you to a patient first ASAP. Hope you feel better soon. Please let us know how you're doing.

I have a call in to the optometrist at our local Walmart. The only one in town working today. It was actually his wife who did my post op, she's working out of a town about 45 miles south of here and doesn't do weekends. The Walmart one had a patient with him so the receptionist took my info & will have him call me back & decide if I need to come in. I did manage to go back to sleep, I woke up every hour & now that I'm up for good they feel slightly better. I did my first round of medicated drops & they were kinda pink. My eyes have been clear since the minute I sat up on the operating table so I still feel like something isn't quite right.

I would have gone to the ER. They would have an ophthalmologist on call, which would be better than going to an optometrist. I'm surprised an optometrist would even look at your eyes.

A reputable eye surgeon should have had a 24 hour emergency number for you to call...

I agree w the ER. They shouldn't be getting worse...tho mine stayed very scratchy & tearing until I woke up the next morning.

Well by the time I got a call back my eyes felt a thousand times better so idk what to think. It's entirely possible I have an emergency number in my after care packet but at 5:30 am I wasn't thinking too clearly. I actually did consider going to the ER but I had nobody around to drive me & was kinda panicked. By 10 am they had totally cleared up. They look & feel fine now. I did talk to the eye doctor in town but after they had cleared on their own without anyone seeing me he really had not much to tell me except that sometimes in the first 36 hrs they will dry out overnight and if it were to happen again tonight to seek emergency care.

One thing I don't question is the reputation of my surgeon. He's the most referred to and qualified person in this region & comes highly recommended. Everyone reacts to it differently. My vision clarity is great so right now I'm hoping it was just a bad night.
