Speckla: We met atnine
Spring: We met ateight
Speckla: I was ontime
Spring: No, youwere late
Speckla: Ah, yes, Iremember it well
We dined with friends
Spring: We dinedalone
Speckla: A tenorsang
Spring: A baritone
Speckla: Ah, yes, Iremember it well
That dazzling April moon!
Spring: There wasnone that night
And the month was June
Speckla: That’sright. That’s right.
Spring: It warmsmy heart to know that you
remember still the way you do
Speckla: Ah, yes, Iremember it well
Speckla: How oftenI’ve thought of that Friday
Spring: Monday
Speckla: night whenwe had our last rendezvous
And somehow I foolishly wondered if you might
By some chance be thinking of it too?
That carriage ride
Spring: You walkedme home
Speckla: You lost aglove
Spring: I lost a comb
Speckla: Ah, yes, Iremember it well
That brilliant sky
Spring: We hadsome rain
Speckla: ThoseRussian songs
Spring: From sunnySpain
Speckla: Ah, yes. Iremember it well.
You wore a gown of gold
Spring: I was allin blue
Speckla: Am Igetting old?
Spring: Oh, no,not you
How strong you were, how young and gay
A prince of love in every way
Speckla: Ah, yes, Iremember it well

We were both hostages. We vowed if we made it out alive, we'd get married.

We had sex twice and never spoke again.

Until we were 50. Then we got to REALLY know each other. We got married and adopted 50 dogs.

+1000 for Speck's response in this thread (from the movie Gigi - sung by Hermione Gingold and Maurice Chevalier). If you haven't seen this 4-star charmer, rent it for this song alone. Hysterical.

At Pemberley. I saw you walking with your cat who was in a stroller. I knew we would be friends forever.

Following one of Speckla's wild cocktail partieshosted by her Specklawood agent, Claudine, Spring unexpectedly meets Doc WileE,a gentle Texan whom Speckla married when she was only 15 years old. I was watching PBS Newshour with the captions turned on as I occasionally do. Rather quickly, I was distracted from the details of David Brooks' analysis of something or other by the captions. There was something about them that transfixed me. Maybe it was the rhythm of the words?
No, I thought. I'd have to give that credit to David Brooks. But in no other situation have I found anything David Brooks had to say so interesting and beautiful. So what could it be?
Then suddenly I knew. This was the work of a wonderful woman! I had to find her, talk to her...something! But how? There was no face or voice to search for, and certainly no names. What could I do? I was becoming depressed at my lack of options. Then I noticed something: while most of the words were in all capital letters, some of them were appearing in lowercase.
"attention"
"time"
"suck"
"curved"
"hair"
"website"
What? Time suck? Curved hair? Wtf is curved hair? I switched the television off angrily and got on the internet. After an hour of watching goat videos, I got the idea to try searching for the words on Google. One by one, I searched the terms, yielding nothing fantastic. In a final act of desperation, I typed all of the words into the search box and clicked "I'm feeling lucky". Where I found myself was a strange land of beautiful hair and acronyms. "Naturally Curly". Hmm. After making an account, I discovered the private message feature. I typed a single question, "Why am I here?", and sent it to every poster active at that time. Only one of you answered, friends:
"Hi, I'm Springcurl. Welcome home".

we lived in the same apartment building. we had a neighbor who left out boxes of meat. I couldnt take the insanity anymore, so i stole a box. You caught me. I was afraid you would rat me out so I made you butter. but you gave it back. I made you cheese and you gave it back. I made you bread, but you said it wasnt enough. so i unleashed my kittens on you. they ran through your apartment and destroyed every blind and curtain. they ate your plants, and hung out in your tub preventing you from bathing. after a week of not bathing you couldnt take it anymore so you came to my apartment to call truce. I made us toffee pudding and you taught me to skate.
