The weather has been really crappy here. Hot then cold, some sun but not enough, torrential rains and storms. Things are behind schedule. But the flowers still bloom no matter what.

one of the big garden centres here in town had a first day of summer sale yesterday.

i got $150 worth of perennials and a few supplementary annuals for $85 with tax!

now i just have to figure out where they are going.

i got two coral bells, a catamint, a tiger-striped grass, more white petunias, some delicate white euphorbia, a corkscrew grass, and....

a "miscellaneous iris" (meaning they don't know the variety) that is dark, DARK purple and has 4 plants in the pot!!! it was $4.50!!!

i LOVE irises and have wanted some for the longest time.

my climbing white roses are almost done, i *really* need to run out and get a pic!

Great haul, especially the irises.
I love grasses. There are always something I plant on every landscaping job. I would like a pic of your grasses if you get a chance. I wonder if your tiger grass is like zebra grass.

i had to go and look because i just decided to call it "tiger grass" based on the stripes.

but it is actually dwarf porcupine grass!

i also got a crane's bill and two tomato plants.

my climbing rose appears to be a casualty of the rainstorm last night. it was so laden with blooms, the main branch is on the ground.

i hope my heaviest gloves will help protect me while i tie it back up.

I do not have pic's, but I did get a couple purple butterfly weeds planted on the bank, just below my rose bush.

I am glad I got a pic of my rose bush when I did. It was hammered in a storm soon after, and looks terrible now. Most of the petals were knocked off.

Here's a few from my back garden, not much going on at this time of year, but some things are growing.
Grapefruit (which I'm sure I've posted before) lots of fruit, not quite there yet.
[IMG][/IMG]

Tangelo, only planted last year so I'm surprised to see any fruit at all.
[IMG][/IMG]
Veggie bed - carrots, spinach, broccoli and peas
[IMG][/IMG]
Jonquils, I think.

Is that a snake in your veggie bed??

Here are my veggies. Kale and (bolted) Swiss chard (plus a bonus volunteer beet), and carrots and beets (and an empty row where the spinach used to be).

Haha, I bought three of them years ago to go in the plum tree as they're supposed to keep the birds away - never happened. So now I put them in the veggie beds if I have seeds and seedlings in there, freaked my dad out once too!

They look good Jess. I've never had much luck when I've tried growing them in pots.

My gardens at work are looking lush and happy. I don't really add anything anymore, not even mulch, since everything has matured and filled in all the space.
