Jealous of the berries, think I had two raspberries last summer!

This is why there will be no celery this year. The celery patch has been invaded by the dreaded celery mildew, also known as T.O.D.D.
Everything else is looking beautiful tho.

Seriously, one of the celery plants was a foot high and he just knocked that baby over and laid on it and the other little one. Didn't look comfy at all! : )

Big Head Todd is a very wise cat and was obviously trying to save you from the evil that is celery.

jeepy, that is the *fuzziest* mildew i have seen in my life!!!

today i went on a perennial-hunting expedition because i knew the garden centre at the big grocery store will be closing soon.

i got:

a blueberry bush
glamour girl phlox
bee balm
blue fortune hyssop
flamenco trumpet vine
columbine
first love speedwell

$42 including tax - regular price would have been about $200!

The flowers have certainly enjoyed the wet summer so far, daylilies especially.
I pack alot into my postage stamp yard.
The wreath is about 13 years old. I won a neighborhood gardening prize where I lived before this house. Most of the ivy and decorations have fallen off but I still put it on the door every year. : )

My potted tomato plants haven't grown hardly at all since I planted the darn things. Just not happy this year. But the hanging tomato plants the boyfriend bought me are just loaded.
And on of my favorite flowers - morning glories.

Not from my house (the pic is at my house, but the flowers aren't from my garden) but from one of the boyfriend's job sites. He planted these years ago and they are usually pretty but the hydrangeas are the most gorgeous I've even seen this year.

Very pretty, Jess.

Jeepy I love those hydrangeas so much. Gorgeous. I tried for many years but the heat was too much for mine. I finally pulled them this year.

I had an old neighbor who had hydrangeas all along the side of his house. They didn't bloom for like 30 years then one year, boom!, they just bloomed like crazy. They are a weird plant.

Things have pretty much matured in my little gardens for the year. Flowers are awesome all around. Gardens and farms have some things going great and some not so great. I don't know what the sweet corn outlook is yet as it's running late. Looks like it might be a great year for apples.

Things are starting to look like fall around here. People are setting out their mum plants, leaves are starting to color up, vegetable plants are starting to look bedraggled, hot peppers are all red and ready for drying. I already dried big batches of chives, parsley, rosemary, catnip.
And the autumn clematis is covered with hundreds of bumble bees. I like to stand close by and listen to all the buzzing.
