Yard and Garden 2013

My mums are blooming that I planted last year, they need to slow down! lol I bought a new one for the pot by the front door and today on my way home some pretty rust colored leaves scattered across my path. Fall is in the air!!

Byron,GA> Charleston, SC> Jacksonville, FL> Guilford, CT> Rohnert Park, CA! A southern drawl in sunny Cali! .
The amount of time from slipping on the peel and landing on the pavement is exactly one bananosecond.
I do have a secret yen for pink in unexpected places. ~ninja dog
I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.
And Spring has sprung here. I should go and take some pics while the sun is out - a lot of my bulbs are flowering.

Pics of bulbs didn't turn out too well, though the bluebells are ok (and a lot bluer irl)

Blossom on the plum tree, which I'm sure I've posted in previous years

And the native hibiscus (also a repeat I think!)

An update on the broccoli. So much broccoli, ran out of ideas of what to do with it.

I think it's a triffid in disguise and trying to take over the garden.

Spotted these poppies flowering yesterday, think there's something else in the pot but can't remember what.

Things are changing quick for fall. Leaves changing fast, fruits ripened.
Got the gardens cleaned up - herb cut back and dried, the rest of the tomatoes picked and plants pulled out, perennials cut back. Re-potted the hot peppers and rosemary and brought them inside for the winter. The jasmine will be brought in as soon as the weather stays cool 24/7. Right now it's blooming again so I'm leaving it outside.
Went apple picking with dad and sis. We picked about 250 lbs in a little over a half hour. The trees were so heavy with apples the large branches were breaking off. Crisp sweet tart apples that were planted just for the deer so they aren't sprayed or poisoned or messed with at all. Great apples.

I have no idea where this mutant marigold came from. I've been planting these same marigolds from seeds from the previous season for years now. They are always about a foot tall and bloom all summer. This one is over twice as tall and is just starting to bloom now in Sept. Weird.

It obviously has the same triffid tendencies as my hibiscus.

Fall is kicking in and it's such a pretty time of year. I could barely get a good walk in today because I kept stopping to look at leaves and flowers.
Brought the jasmine in, even tho it's still blooming. It's supposed to start cooling down (although it's 80 today) so I want to get it inside. Also brought in the hots pepper and rosemary and some parsley and chives.

I love fall. It was not great here, when it comes to the fall colors (other than neon orange. it's the only one that popped) but it's still beautiful. Smell of fire places and wood stoves burning at night... Ah!

Some poppies in the front garden, they're gone now but were very pretty for a while.

And some rhubarb. This is the biggest it's ever got, usually it grows about three leaves then dies off for a few months. I think we might just get something to eat off it this time!
