The only one I have experience with is Register.com. It's what we use at work. I don't know how it compares with others but it was great for someone like me who knew nothing but needed to build a website. It's not a fancy one or anything (tho Register of course has those) but I was able to do it myself.

I've had success with bluehost.com.

I'd advise finding two or three reputable companies then calling them and ask what kind of specials they are offering. They are almost always willing to lower the price if you call.
