Now the question is, after his arms are sewn up or back on or whatever, what do we (society) do w/ him?

We give him a big fat hospital bill and tell him there's no money for universal healthcare, and certainly not universal MENTAL healthcare, because b/millionaires need tax breaks. He should pull himself up by his bootstraps.

Holy cow. I opened this up thinking he somehow gained access to the electric saw they use to cut down large sheets of wood for customers, not hand saws! Wow.

I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.

That is exactly what I thought. Just, wow! My second thought: I wonder if it was a mental health issue or a drug hallucination.
My third thought: What part of 'everyone was just arriving on scene' did the person making the first comment not comprehend?

I just want to know how he cut off BOTH arms. Seems like once you do one, your ability to do the other is greatly impaired. Plus, ow.

^^ I was curious about that as well. I read another article saying he (51 years old) calmly walked in, and started cutting. He cut above the elbow on one arm (first arm, I am sure), and below the elbow on the other. Both to the bone.
Both articles said he used multiple types of saws. Depending on the saw...

I still want to know if this was a possible drug related incident gone horribly wrong or a mental health issue. He is still in ICU, and I am not sure if he has spoken or not. If people were eating humans and dogs while under the influence, I can completely see someone thinking they have to remove their arms.
If so, I would have to ask... Whatever happened to the days when people simply thought they could fly?

I saw this morning that Home Depot has brought in therapists for the employees who witnessed this. They are understandably traumatized.

This has been the same exact question with anyone I've discussed this with. I'm not sure how he could even cut one arm, I can't imagine the pain, but how did he even have functionality to do both.

I read that as well. It is good that they brought in grief counselors. I hope they were able to have a large, group, debriefing for the employees who needed it.
