I love these two, and I love them as a couple. I hate that they would need to 'come out' as not wanting kids, but its great they don't feel pressured to.

I guess I think its kind of (sad? Annoying?) That people are expected to have kids if they're a couple.
Why's this news?

Why is anything to do with a famous person's personal life news?
I suppose because people are nosey and since that person is famous they feel they have a right to know what goes on in their personal lives.
Yeah, but there's a limit to our nosiness...I thought. Are they going to report on what Ellen eats for breakfast too?

There *used* to be a limit to nosiness, but that is long gone. The moment photographers started jumping out of bushes to get pictures of celebrities children (making them fell scared and threatened) and standing around photographing someone as they died... It all went down hill from there.

ETA: See Jodie Foster speech. This is the largest problem in the United States.
When I hear terms like "hipster" I think, who told cliques they could leave high school??

the other day I was reading a celeb gossip thing, and there was a picture of a reality star (no* longer* on reality show) walking I guess to her car, and I thought, I would hate to have that life, just random people taking pictures of you...WALKING TO YOUR CAR....doing nothing. Where is the privacy? I'd never wanna be famous.

^ There has been more than one instance where the celeb's life has been put in danger, to feed the masses. Several tried to fight the practices of the photog's, but have had no luck. The public's need for more is unreal.

I don't know about you, but I don't want anyone to die, or have their kids terrified, so I can watch them eat a chicken sammich or play in the park.

It's not all that.

I am so over hearing about the mundane lives of a public figure. If they break the law or do something egregious, that's different, but otherwise, I don't care. Why can't they scratch their butt or pick their nose in peace?

Well, maybe now people will leave them alone and stop asking when they're going to have children. I'm all for people choosing to be child-free if that's their wish.
What I really dont get is why do people get so excited about looking at strangers babies? Like it's such a big deal..i dont get it. And most newborns are weird looking and most of the babies ive happened to see at the store magazine arent even cute.
LAwoman and murrrcat like this.
I can't say I go searching for that myself. If they choose to share a photo, so be it, but it became this lucrative market by way of stalking. Really, that's what it is. Down to 'what color panties you got on?' It's weird.

Much of the (more minor) illegal stuff reported on now is caused by photographers as well. You have people following you around with intent to scare or anger you, so they can get a pic of it.

No thank you. I would not want to be a celeb either.

It makes me think: Screw you...who do you think you are, Michael Jackson?...I don't even want to look at your ugly baby anymore if you're going to be such a jerk about it.

I have all kinds of problems with the methods.

In some instances I think they have to expect some level of invasion of privacy. They are celebrities. Thats part of the job. Hence the term being in the public eye.

And I think they do things that invites people into their private life even more and that creates a normalcy with invading their privacy.

The dozen celebrities who have been on the cover of magazines baring their pregnant bodies think they're sending a message about beautiful pregnant bodies, but they're also sending a message about not respecting a persons private life. Reality shows are another thing that erases boundary lines.

Gloria Steinem made a statement regarding the comments about Kim Kardashians pregnancy and weight gain. She went on about how nobody has the right to comment on a women's body during pregnancy, and her body is no ones business, and on. While I agree, I also think, this is a woman who became famous by her body being plastered all over magazines in various body revealing outfits. Has a sex tape. Has multiple reality shows. They film themselves taking pregnancy tests, getting medical procedures, going in the delivery room...How can this person suddenly demand privacy and actually expect people to respect that? I feel bad for the invasion of privacy for many people, but I think its becoming hard to draw the line on who and what its okay for. And this is what causes problems for those who actually want some privacy. Everyone deserves to have privacy, but when you open yourself up to so much public viewing, people aren't going to respect your privacy bc they arent used to giving it to you. Even if its not right, the public is going to feel entitled to your private life. And then it starts to extend to all celebrities.

I think children should be off limits, no matter what.

And end of rant.
I am sure there are plenty who want to show off their babies, but when you have several people pushing, shoving, shouting, clicking away and generally scaring the crap out of the baby, then I can't say that I blame them for not wanting to feed the dragon.

That would have to scare the crap out of a parent, and the child.
