That is it. I am curious about where they got the possible military connection from. If true, and they were in a 4 year branch of the military, they would have to be on leave. If it was assumed by the types of weapons they had (guns amd grenades, etc) and their actions during the shoot out, that could be a different story.

Either way, if true, it would be handy to have that confirmed given that one is still on the street and a danger to others.

CA, They would have no full way to enforce keeping people indoors, with so many citizens. They might ticket or warn a few, but hopefully people will listen for safety's sake.
When I hear terms like "hipster" I think, who told cliques they could leave high school??

CNN keeps saying the older brother did not drink and did not smoke and had no American friends. smh. I wish CNN would stop, for real.

I think the older brother must have brainwashed the younger one. People who knew the younger bro and went to HS with him said he was normal, funny, no hint at all whatsoever that he was brooding with terrorist/violent plans. This kid has been here since he was 7.
I'm not sure, KinkyCoils. I do see your point..."no friends" sounds like he felt alienated. My initial reaction was it just sounded like they were trying to say they were other/Muslim to me (others/Muslims don't drink, smoke , and I guess they may not have a lot of American friends now?). I have some more thoughts, but I'll keep them to myself and wait and see.

I have been a little busy for the last hour but my co worker said the suspect at large could possibly have more grenades on him, several guns, and a bomb strapped to him.

JC!! Again, hope they catch him soon (and he does not have all that on him).

I wonder what kind of grenades, because apparently civilians can buy some of those, too. Perhaps we can assume they didn't jump through the necessary hoops to get them?

Yes, some you can. Idk what specifically has them saying that.

I agree with a wishing they wouldn't say something at all, if they are going to keep changing it. Some things need to be made public, for the safety of others, but much of it can wait until confirmed.

I said in the Texas plant explosion thread how much I appreciated them holding off on info. Much of it was not the top priority at the moment. Just wait until they can confirm.

i think when they report all this stuff it freaks people out more and can actually led to people getting hurt. not too mention they blow things out of proportion.

Its like the game we play when you get a butt load of people in a circle adn the first person wispers somehting in the next persons ear. by time it gets back to the first person, its not at all what they said. i rather the "news" stfu, and let the people who actually knows stuff give a press release and answer all questions when they can.

Its hard for them to keep quiet when they have all of Boston (and it includes surrounding cities) shut down. As well as public transportation, schools, and buildings.
It's so exhausting watching the news. There have been so many incorrect reports/statements, it's confusing. First they were here a year with past military training, now they've been here 13 years, and therefore really don't likely have a military background. And maybe the one who died was a med student, but they were originally reporting the 19 year old was a second year med student, and just openly guessing probably at Harvard.

Anyway, I'm on "lock down". Everything is closed and canceled and all transportation is shut down, even taxis. Not supposed to go outside.

An account with Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's name on a Russian social media site lists Islam as his world view, "career and money" and his personal priorities and Chechnya as an area of interest.
His father, speaking from Russia, told The Associated Press that he is a second-year medical student and "a true angel."
"He was a nice guy. He was shy," said Sierra Schwartz, who identified herself as a high school friend. "It was almost physically painful to even call him nice now after this absolute tragedy that happened, but at the time, as we knew him, he was funny."
She added that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev never seemed suspicious and that his identification as a suspect in the marathon bombings came as a shock.
Robin Young, who said her nephew was on the wrestling team with him, told NBC News that he was "just a light, airy, curly-haired kid."
"I can't tell you enough what a beautiful young man this was," she said.
The city of Cambridge awarded Dzhokhar Tsarnaev a $2,500 scholarship toward college in 2011, according to The Boston Globe. The scholarships were for students at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School, part of the Cambridge public school system.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's brother, who was killed in a firefight with law enforcement, was identified as Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, born in Russia. He became a legal permanent resident in 2007, the officials said. He was the suspect in the black hat in the FBI photos.
Tamerlan Tsarnaev boxed in a 2004 tournament as part of Golden Gloves, a charity program, according to The Lowell Sun newspaper. He told the newspaper then: "I like the USA."
He said that his first love was music, and that he played the piano and violin.
"America has a lot of jobs," he said. "That's something Russia doesn't have. You have a chance to make money here if you are willing to work."
Both men were believed to have military experience, and to have entered the country with their family in 2002 or 2003, when the family sought asylum. The nature of the military experience was not clear. Later in the morning, U.S. Army officials told NBC knows that no one matching either name had served in the active-duty Army, or the reserves.

With a great deal of this stuff the media hears information go over police scanners, or the public does and gives them tips, and they run with it. They often misunderstand things. Brief sidetrack example: I received several calls one day about a horrible factory or plant fire in my county. We had nothing like that, but the public kept getting on the local mews FB page and insisting we did, and we were covering it up. The last time they called they said it was a recycling plant and it clicked. It was a damn dumpster fire the night before at the trash dump. :-/ It's unreal how easily stuff gets twisted, and how quickly they jump.

**Wanted to add a moment ago, but I had to cut it short... I have never worked anything on this scale (thankfully) but I have worked several bank robberies (some ending in fatalities), murders, man hunts, bomb threats, etc and it is a circus. The very smallest thing can become one, so I completely sympathize with them when it comes to the media BS. They can be helpful or/and a complete hindrance, and exhausting to watch**

Thanks for posting that, Murrr. That at least narrows it down a touch.

I just heard they did not rob the 7-11??? I also heard they were/are legally in the states. The one still alive became a citizen last year on 9/11. He was a student at Umass Dartmouth.

Amazing they let the guy go they hijacked the car from.
