Default Dove Commercial

Not sure if this has been posted yet. Made me teary. Its amazing how critical we are of ourselves.

This Dove Commercial Reminds Us That Beauty Has Nothing to Do With a Product

A coworker sent that to me. It's a good campaign. Don't know if it makes people buy Dove but maybe that's not their aim.

I read the article yesterday but this was the first time I was able to watch the commercial.

I'm totally teary at my desk. I could only imagine the monster I would create of myself.

I liked it.

Any any and every marketing ploy aside, I like the concept of this, so much. It is honest. I can not count the number of times I have had someone (women and men) describe their horrible physical features to me and thought (and said) you are bonkers! I do not see what they are seeing at all. Not even close.

Eh...everyone on my FB shared that video yesterday. I don't think it's all that great. It seemed to send the wrong message...that only beauty is important and only WHITE and THIN beauty at that.

I feel like Dove is manipulative, just to sell soap. No better than any other company. They're owned by Unilever, which also owns Axe brand. Um...this is an example of Axe advertising:

I agree with RCW. The ad bugged me, but I couldn't really explain it. This does.

Yea for some reason I've never been a fan of Dove commercials but I love their soap, I've been using it since I was 11. When I'm feeling nifty I'll use the fancy natural stuff, but Dove is my staple soap.

Thanks RCC for posting that - this is what it is -

I thought the video made a god point, even if it was just fluff. This is a great video though...

Hell Has Frozen Over - Why Dove's "Real Beauty Sketches" Video Makes Me Uncomfortable... and Kind of Makes Me Angry
And this sums up exactly what I was thinking as I watched it.I really disliked that the before was supposed to be ugly....because I didn't think they were at all. Plus there's some major bias injected into a situation when you tell them to get friendly with someone. That's someone seeing you at or trying to be your best.

I think Dove marketers are really smart. More people will buy Dove because they think Dove cares about their well-being.

Speaking of Dove, that commercial about the sleeveless t-shirts and armpits annoyed me for real for real.
