UPDATED Core Biopsy of Breast:CLEAR!!!

Like Tree253Likes

I had a mammo today and I need to have a core biopsy of breast. They also did sonogram. They don't think it's anything really serious but they need to make sure.

I'm anxious about the procedure. If you've had it done, please post here and let me know if it hurt, what I can expect, etc. I told my boss I would come into work afterwards. Is that OK?

If you would rather tell me privately about your experience, please pm me. Please respond if you know anything about this. I was so rattled at first that I lost my favorite scarf on the subway (gone forever) and stupidly called my boss to say I would be out Monday morning which was overly dramatic. I've had a crappy day.

Thanks everyone.

CP, I wish I had the answers for you....I just dropped in to give you a great big hug....(((CP)))
I am sorry you are going through this. I am sorry you have to wait for the biopsy. The waiting is the worst part. I was lucky that as soon as the sonogram confirmed the results of the mammogram, they brought a doctor in to do the biopsy within minutes.

I have had this procedure before and I am DEATHLY afraid of needles. They deadened the area where they entered and before they took the biopsy they shot in something to deaden the path of the needle. I just took deep breaths and it was surprisingly not bad. The worst part was waiting for an answer about the results. I had mine in the afternoon, and did not go back to work that day but I went back to work the next day. We have a refrigerator at work so when the little icepack they gave me got warm I just stuck it in the freezer and put it back when it was cold.

I am thinking good thoughts for you.

My experience with "further tests" is that they (medical people) get as detailed as possible now. Every test I've had lately has been expanded in scope to the utmost degree.

I am guessing that they are simply performing this test on you to make certain beyond a doubt that all is well.

I will be waiting to hear the good news that you are FINE.

Thank you so much everyone, for the encouragement and the hugs and the smiley hug. I love you guys.

I'm not terribly anxious, just a little, because they didn't seem to think it was anything. The docs are just making super sure. My best friend died of b. cancer though so it is always in the back of my mind.

To be honest, I just needed people to know and care, I guess. I called my sister-in-law and she was great. I didn't want to bother my bro at work; he'll call me tonight I'm sure. I also told emailed a special friend.

I think I'm going to get slightly plastered tonight. Pour myself into some vino.

If (WHEN) I find out all is well, I will let you all know and I will do something ridiculously self-indulgent to celebrate. Eat, drink (be kind to everyone as much as possible) and be merry because believe me, you never know!

Thank you my wonderful curly friends! It really helps a lot to read your responses.

Right now I'm actually more scared of the procedure than of the result (that's called denial ). I need perspective - I've been through so much worse than this!

Time for sweet vermouth with a lime twist.

Be well everyone - I'm off to the land of nod.

I'll be thinking (and praying it goes as well as possible) for you CP!

The scarf part bums me out. You owe it to yourself to get a new favorite when you have a chance.

BIG {{{HUGZ}}} to you Ms. Pearl!!!! Just go to your happy place during the procedure. We're lying on a beautiful beach and a really hot guy brings us a couple of mojitos with little umbrellas! Cue music of CP's choice. There's a gentle breeze across the ocean of beautiful turquoise water. Wait, what's that? Half naked, hot guys playing beach volleyball with muscles glistening in the sun? More mojitos? Why thank you handsome, foreign man who is mute so we don't have to listen to him as he fans us with palm leaves and feeds us fresh tropical fruit.

I'm going to have a cheeseburger in anticipation of positive results!!!

Kasden - you just invented the perfect man!!!!! I'm hysterical with giggles. I can't possibly be really sick when I'm having such a good time.

All of you sweet wonderful curlfriends with your fabulous responses - you rock!!!!! I'm sharing Kasden's fantasy with everyone - we are all on that beach together. Just leave the sexiest man for me.
